I never like Claire and Steve. Most relationships I can get (especially Wesker and Barry, albeit not what Barry wants...) but Claire doesn't seem to like Steve much, let alone love him. The dude acts like a prick, perves on her while she sleeps, mutates into a hell beast and then announces he loves her all within hours of meeting, and apparently because she's the first female not to try and kill him.

Her response is vaguely shocked silence and outrage when Wesker threatens to bring him back to life (yes, I know that's not how the scene is meant to be taken - I prefer it think of it that way) and somehow they're a couple now? At least Chris and Jill know each other and Leon and Ada kissed (and Wesker used Barry for his...personal purposes).

I think you're right. Claire was sad when Steve died because I think she wanted to like him, but simply didn't (at least in that way). She did like him as a person, obviously, or she wouldn't have cared too much. At first it seems she found him annoying, but warmed up to him as she discovered his past. But it's apparent that she wasn't into him like he was into her.

So, what we know about the sexuality of RE characters so far :

-Jill probably had a boyfriend at some point (RE2 desk)
-Claire has "a lot of boyfriends" (naughty girl!)
-Leon had a girlfriend before the Raccoon city incident
-Barry and his wife
-Wesker probably took upon himself to "satisfy" Excella, but that is just speculation from my part
-Ada had John. She also doesn't like it when men play rough
-Chris....hmm....he sure knows how to keep a girl waiting

I remember reading in the Archives book that the reason Leon was late to the RPD, was because he was up the night before drinking, because he had just broken up with his girlfriend. I've always wondered if that was considered canon, or another case of misinformation/mistranslation that the Archives book is infamous for. Does anyone know? Where's News-Bot? We need a bat signal for him! ..

Mine is Billy and Rebecca, the games storyline actually focused on the development of their relationship as opposed to other games, I felt, made them second-thoughts.

Exactly this. REZero's changing the Scooby-Doo Method of splitting up to search hostile environments was one of the good things about it, at least from a story perspective if not from a gameplay one. (crappy AI)

Billy and Rebecca have a great rapport that makes me think they could form a serious relationship. You have to realize that we see our heroes in the most desperate and extreme of circumstances. We don't really know what Leon does on weekends or what his favorite kind of food is. This makes envisioning any of the heroes together romantically rather challenging.

But RE0 does such a good job of establishing how close Billy and Becky came to be that I can honestly say that I think they'd work out well as a couple. It is precisely their wonderful interactions that make me think the REZero was the best in the series.
