Yeah...the author doesn't really come across too well on a couple of points.

Which it did – setting in motion a process that still, seven years later hasn’t shown signs of slowing down.

    The ports.
RE4 didn't set the ports in motion. Let's be fair here...all the games that aren't a spinoff had been ported at least once. RE4 may have been ported more, but that's because it sold like there were diamonds inside the box. Even I owned two copies of it!

On the other hand, I'd have a hard time arguing about the quality complaint...Capcom does seem to love to make it cheap and cheerful to maximise profits.

I'm with the author on the port abusing, when things aren't done with quality in mind (RE4 PC/RE4 HD).
I also agree with Darkmoon, this is Resident Evil we're talking, there are going to be at least 1 or 2 ports of each title.

This is straight from my head, might be missing platforms:

Resident Evil 1: Playstation 1, Saturn, PC, Nintendo DS, PS3/PSP
Resident Evil 2: Playstation 1, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PC, Tiger.com, PS3/PSP
Resident Evil 3: Playstation 1, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PC, PS3/PSP
Resident Evil Code Veronica: Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox 360, PS3

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with ports. Fanboy whining does not make them bad.

Also, Rely On Horror. Validity depleted. Writer doesn't know what he's talking about half the time and spends the most time complaining about a non-issue.

Well it's wrong when you don't get what is offered. RE4 Wii proposed great gameplay with the Wii remote and it delivered.
RE4 HD is supposed to bring the game as an HD experience, but just take a look at the SW cutscenes, for example. That's not what was promised.
So I guess that's the issue here...

The SW cutscenes are pre-rendered in every version. There may be a perfectly reasonable reason why.

LMAO as I read this I just receive news that Umbrella and Darkside chronicles are coming to PS3 with move support.

Here's my question. Did RE4 have a legitimate reason to not have move support when it came to HD or are they setting us up for yet another port?

I know. Even the Wii version has the cutscenes pre-rendered, when it's perfectly capable of doing them in realtime. My point is that at least the videos could have been improved for the HD release.

From what I understand, that would require them to remake them altogether since they use pre-rendered assets (Wesker's magic screens, transmissions and the satellite stuff). Who knows whether they even have the original assets anymore.

Might be. Still I can't see Capcom not saving the assets from a title of this caliber. At least running some filters on the videos, so they won't look that crappy. Oh well, it is what it is. No point in asking for anything more.

What a load of bull, he cannot even keep with his own points.
What fries me isn’t the fact that it’s been re-released so many different times; it’s that with one small exception, each re-release has been worse than the last.
Less than a year later, Resident Evil 4 was released on the Playstation 2. It had bonus content, which might have warranted the extra purchase for a few,
A complete turn-around The innovative control scheme of the Wii not only offered motion controls – traditionalists could play with the Classic Controller or the NGC controller. It looked marginally better than the NGC version, but that’s still better than the PS2 version and leagues ahead of the PC edition. Wii owners who might have been coming down off of the novelty high of their console sighed in relief at the sight of a game that didn’t have a ‘Z’ at the end of the title. RE4 for the Wii! Awesome!
Plus, you know, RE2 being ported to just about everything. PS1, PC, N64, DC, GC...I forget something?

And a GBA port that got scrapped but was far enough along to find itself in ads.
