I was reminiscing earlier back in 98 or so when Resident Evil was still a young series and one of the few survival horror games out there and I had beaten the second game...And was a little disappointed by it. I wanted the game to be longer for the most part, sure you have to play it through a few times to beat it fully, and depending on which character and scenario you got you would end up in different places and what not, but I wanted the overall story to be longer.

At this point in time Umbrella went from evil shadow organization that had a secret lab, to shadow organization that actually owned an entire city. Pretty nice conspiracy going on and really added a lot of menace to Umbrella.

I often wondered where the series was going storywise, Umbrella was now established as a tenaciously evil group and could presumably do anything.

As a whole Umbrella was the first real villain in the series. Since Wesker was dead storywise from 96-2000(when he came back in CodeV) and was really pretty minor in the first game. I was always curious if they'd ever really face off against the guys in charge of Umbrella and looking back now...I dont think they ever really did.

Yeah in Code V you have Alexander Ashord, Alexia Ashford, and Wesker...But Code V felt kind of cheap in that you have a few people responsible for everything thats happened..But Ones a whiny giggling pussy that you put up with for about 60% of the game, Ones an evil princess bitch who pops up for the last 40% of the game, and then Wesker pops up for the last 30% of the game and there doesnt really feel like anyone is in charge at all.

I always envisioned things differently back in 1998 and really wanted a showdown...

How about the rest of you? Anyone ever go through the 'whats next' phase in the series after RE2?

Everytime I play the newer RE's I put in Resident Evil Director's Cut to see the "Ultimate failure ahahahahaha" scene. I don't care about those newer games, Wesker was killed by the Tyrant. Period.

I remember following the development of RE3 and reading how the game would focus on Jill playing a detective of sorts where she would investigate what Umbrella was up to during the whole RE2 outbreak. It sounded really exciting on paper.

Once I played the game though.... I felt that it fell short from what it promised. But then that's the same crap that happened with the previous games, so... I guess it was unavoidable.

Still, RE3 is my fave classic RE.

I actually remember an old gamepro article about RE3 involving the Nemesis going after STARS out of hatred for them, hinting that it might be an old enemy's body used as a host(Wesker prolly). Instead they made it its own monster.

Yup those were the good ol days.Now everything is like Call of Duty or Gears of War or both.Resident Evil isn't the same anymore,thus why I don't follow it anymore and sold off 90% of the stuff I used to own Only Own the PS1 Classics now. the Walking Dead to me is the New Resident Evil.Hell its better.

I think the series should have progressed this far. It should have ended with RE1 or even RE2. That's the way it should have been. The story thus far is so out of whack.

If t's any consolation I am writing a script for a fan comic for the RE series. It retells RE1 from both Chris and Jill's perspective without adding anything to the established canon besides Lisa Trevor. It then progresses to RE2 but will be totally different from what we know. I plan to make Leon a Detective. He was working with his client in Raccoon until all contact was lost with the city. Concerned he takes his Jeep and drives into town only to find it in a wreck and all the city's inhabitants are now Zombified.

Tat's all I have right now. I plan to make RE2 the final game in the series with this.

I remember when I was young (in 1998 I believe) and it would go over to my friend Michael's house and play RE2 on his Nintendo 64. That was my first time ever encountering the Resident Evil series. I remember thinking the monsters were cool and the music was scary. I remember telling my parents about it and we ended up getting a Playstation instead of the Nintendo 64. There in front of me were two games: Resident Evil Directors Cut Dual Shock and Resident Evil 2.

I had never played the first game but when I did I found it was much different from RE2. It was slower paced, far less ammo, and the Zombies were not cool but scary! The music was haunting and unlike RE2's slightly more upbeat actiony music, REDCDS was more chilling (granted this is before I knew it was a remixed soundtrack). Long did I used to watch my dad play the game in his bedroom and when we got to the "dog hallway" and they came crashing in, he actually dropped the controller and jumped back on his bed. I ran out of the room.

Those are the days I miss. The gold olde RE days when the games were scary and puzzles made you think! Now all modern games are dumbed down like the player is stupid. I like the sense of accomplishment when you figured out a puzzle on your own. Man I got stuck in the area where the gold crest was and I freaked out!

Now a days I can beat all the RE games fast without trying. The movement on the controller is easy and not clunky as many complained about. I still play Bio1-3 at least 1-2 a month. I still get heavy nostalgia when playing REDCDS and RE2, but mainly more with REDCDS. When I hear the music it really takes me back to my youth. I may have been 11 but that game scared me shitless.
