It's cool to see this game get a fair chance for a public release, as is with any rare beta really.

Like others above have already said, this game comes a bit too late for me personally, maybe if it was about 6-8 years ago, I'd be pretty hyped.

Still, with that said, I wish everybody donating all the best with getting this out to the public.

It is not grey, is flat out illegal. Released or not this is Capcom intellectual property and distributing it without permission is illegal. Morally however since never released and never will be, or any assets of it used for somthing else...no harm, no foul.

In some countries, sure. In some other countries, even owning a beta is trouble. Laws change though, and clearly aren't the same anywhere. And having talked to many intellectual copyright people in the USA (People with Ph.D's), they seem to agree that it is in a grey area, but for the most part, should be okay.

I remember being psyched out for this game way back in 1998...even with its terrible graphics and animation, but it was RE ya know?..and instead they gave us RE:Gaiden..

I'm all for these kind of initiatives, because that's how we'll eventually be able to get 1.5. I'm absolutely not interested in that GBA game though, I was 10 years ago, but now... Still I'll gladly donate 20 bucks or something like that just to make things move forward. But I doubt it'll reach 2000.

Good, common sense posts.. personally I think even discussing the legality of it all is detrimental to ever seeing RE games like this released (more importantly RE 1.5). There's no reason not to want these games openly available IMO.

I believe I was the one who started the legality issue, but I was just comparing it to piracy of retail games when talking to the Sonic dude. I didn't intend this discussion at all.

Eh, legal Smeagol. 1.5 aside, this has been a good year for RE fans. We got 3 different Biohazard beta/proto things and now a chance for this game. It's kinda surprising to me that this is being offered. I'm not into this new gen of gaming (all online play, download crap etc., blah). So this game definately interests me as i'm more of a retro gamer anyway. I actually just bought a Gameboy advance SP 101 about 3 months ago so i'm definatly interested in this. I'm sure the talented people around the net could hack the rom so it's fully playable. This is great news. I'll help if I can.
