i bought one archives book that's sealed from a friend, and i actually found another book at a GoHastings store. i actually highly doubt anything anymore is really "sold out" until it is for sure sold to the public and no trace of it ends up left. unless for some rare reason it ends up in a "ma & pa" shop, thrift store, or any other antique/ second hand place.

The English translation of the book is pretty good. Some instances of laziness though. They did not translate the SECRET REPORT files from BH5, copy and pasted. They also only translated certain parts of Wesker's Report I, copy and pasted the rest. Thankfully, Wesker's Report II got a complete translation. Their translation of Wesker's Extra Report appears to add some stuff, but I really don't think it's there in the original text. There are small parts throughout the book that are just... missing. For example, Ada's "I don't do evil" quote is gone, and some sentences have just vanished. They also suffer from typical translation errors such as Leon's organization being called the "United States Secret Service" when it's actually just "secret military agency". They do the same for the "Private Anti-Biohazard Unit", which has become "Private Regional Biohazard Containment Unit" and suddenly has an acronym. Annoying use of "research facility" or "research center" or even "research laboratory" rather than just "laboratory" as it should be.
Better writing style although they do tend to get a bit too into dressing it up for dramatic effect. Very eye-pleasing design and layout. Much better attempt than the first book overall and even more stylish than the Japanese version, which is the opposite of the case with the first book.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

There are not as many grammatical errors, and nothing like the factual errors as Archives I (I remember that the information on the dates relating to the NE-alpha parasite contradict Wesker Report II). Was it decided at PU that the correct form is t-Virus, rather than T-Virus ?.....they use T-Virus in Archives II. BIO5 Secret files are included, and I'll scan them tonight. Here is the RE4 concept art ~

I bought the first Archives when it came out, and the book itself is quite nice and full of pictures; however, a fair amount of the writing had simple errors like no one proofread or edited the book. It was like someone said "Okay, done, go print this for the final copies right now!"
Also, I vaguely remember something Ashford-related being wrong. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

They got pretty lazy with the original Wesker's Report in this translation. They actually didn't even translate most of it, they copy and pasted the translated English script from the video version of the report and then added in the new pieces of information from the 2003 version... and got some of it wrong.
Our translations of the reports on Project Umbrella remain the most accurate.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
