Yeah, Wesker's return from the dead was not a universally popular move, especially given it ended up with, 'And I shall be a god-OH NO, Volcano, my nemesis!'

Excluding the mobile phone games (which there are too many awful ones to just choose 3 from), I would list:
*Gun Survivor (4?): Dead Aim
*Darkside Chronicles
*Gun Survivor 2: Code Veronica
If we are speaking of the long-term effects and direction of the series rather than just gameplay (as above), I would list:
*Resident Evil 5
*Resident Evil Zero
*Umbrella Chronicles
Notable mentions would include Gun Survivor 1.Last edited by Josh-san; 01-18-2012, 10:13 AM.

Mine would have to be, in no particular order -
*Resident Evil Gaiden - Not overly fun to play, plus my copy was one of those where it couldnt be completed due to crashing towards the end! grr
*Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2:Code Veronica - Actually a fun game to play but I just prefer the other games over it.
*Resident Evil Outbreak #2 - I just could never bring myself to complete it. It was a combination of the slow loading times and my lack of internet connection. (However, I am very open to Capcom releasing these as PSN downloads with improved Net play and I will happily replay with an open mind! ;) )

Though if I'm fair I think my list would be:
Code Veronica X
Code Veronica
Resident Evil 3
Nostalgia is a helluva drug. RE3 was my first experience with the series and for many year I proclaimed it as my absolute favorite.
....then I went back and played it.
Reality is cruel and this game is awful. Here are the things that Nemesis is NOT:
-intimidating
-scary
-cool
-a good gimmick
And what he is...
-irritating
-a waste of time
-unexplained (in the actual game - if I have to go elsewhere besides the game to learn about the game's main antagonist, it is a massive failure of said game)
Having Nemmy appear when you're trying to solve a puzzle is nothing more than an occasion to groan.
Note to Capcom - when your super-duper-big-awesome-evil-badass monster inspires nothing more than a weary sigh of resignation to how much the game blows, you have failed miserably.
Then of course there is Jill's outfit but everyone and their mortified mother knows that was 100% shameful.
And yet, even worse than all of that, is the fact the game has no real plot. Every RE game before this gave us an equal blend of the need to survive and the need to solve a mystery.
RE1 was of course what was going on with all the zombies and monsters.
RE2 was the mystery of the G-Virus.
RE3? You're just running from Bland Site of Wreckage #1 to Bland Site of Wreckage #2. You are only prompted onward by fleeting and short-term goals.
I'm very ashamed that I once called this game better than RE2 or Zero or 4.
As for Code Veronica...there ae not enough words to express how much I detest that game. It was ultimately unnecessary for one. As Albert rightly declares:
"It turns out that Alexia's work wasn't much of anything."
Speaking of Albert, he's quite pointless himself. The series would have been better off without his return.
The only thing this game gave us was Chris vs. Wesker. Everything else was fluff that was not the least bit enjoyable to get through due to the fact:
a. Everything is ungodly hideous to look at.
b. The voice-acting in the game is comprised 50% of evil laughter (really bad evil laughter too) and 50% lines like "oh little fishy come see my hook."
The game does not need to exist.Last edited by Becky's Butt; 01-24-2012, 07:36 AM.

1. RE Gaiden
Terrible game, mainly because the only game that was ever any good on a gameboy was Pokemon, every other game i played on it sucked.
2. RE survivor 2
Ok so it was fun to play for a short while but I just didnt see any point in it really, also screw capcom for putting nemesis in it, a half assed nemesis is worse than no nemesis at all.
3. Resident Evil Outbreak
Couldnt stand this game. I found it agonisingly slow (yes even for a resident evil game), bland and the fact that the subtitles are different from what the characters say on screen was ridiculous. This could have been a great game, if it came out with the online capabilities of the 360 and ps3.Last edited by I_Am_Nemesis; 01-24-2012, 08:38 AM.

I wonder if I am the only one who enjoyed RE Survivor. I never understood the plot of the game properly (I was playing a japanese import, BIOHAZARD Gun Survivor), but I loved it, alongside Resident Evil 1. Maybe it is an effect of nostalgia?Hail the heros of the revolution!

Survivor has probably aged better over time than people would perhaps think, because when it came out it was up against the giants of the series, before the series branched off with it's spin offs and such.
I've always enjoyed it, it plays exactly the same pretty much as the other games with a standard controller, and I really like the setting of Sheena Island. But ye gods, the voice acting. What happened.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

1. Resident evil 4
2. Resident evil 5
3. Resident evil revelations
The RE series has totally lost its survival horror meaning. 4 and 5 are stupid games. There good games ON THERE OWN. and revelations is crap. Maybe capcom should of started another series and used 4,5 and Revelations in that series instead of killing are beloved series. Remember the "big change" 4 did? Dino crisis 3 did the same, and that was the last game in its series for a reason. Recently replayed RE2, and could not believe that game is STILL scary. It made me mad to see what hell our series has turned too. Resident evil is about zombies, not stupid uroburos.
Also, I WANT THE FIXED CAMERA BACK AND TANK CONTROLLED. I CANT STAND BEHIND THE BACK!Last edited by monsterenergy; 01-24-2012, 05:13 PM.

DC3 was terrible, fricking camera angles pissed me off.
Also I like Dino Crisis 2 a lot. Is it better than the first game? I would say I can't give an answer. Both play styles are totally different as DC1 was a Survival Horror game and DC2 was an Action-Adventure game. I still love DC2 a lot!

RE4 is more like Dino Crisis 2 with Capcom making them both under the theme of "let's just have fun."
It appears a lot of people had fun so way to go Capcom.

I liked Dino Crisis 1 and 2, even though they are pretty different. The first is more like resident evil 1, and the second is more like RE3 regarding pacing (action or survival horror). I loved all those panzer-survival-horrors that were made. Even Outbreak, it's not bad, it's actually great! I played RE4, but didn't finish it at the time, it dragged way too long in some boring sections. And RE5 is providing mindless fun with the PS Move, so I guess I can accept it. But I want a survival horror with tank controls so badly...Hail the heros of the revolution!
