  • Who else thinks that RE5's Lost in nighmares should've BEEN RE5?

Seriously, Lost in nightmares is the best thing about the entire game of Resident evil 5. It brought the eerie atmosphere back, made me think (just a little bit), the level design and music are better and it has Chris & Jill as a team working together.. awesome! Too bad it's so freaking short! This is the game that RE5 should've been and what RE6 SHOULD be and built/added upon. Anything less would be a huge let down to me. Who agrees?

It's probably way too early to ask this, but Is there any info on RE6 available?

WHo else thinks that RE5 is the "Phantom Menace' of the series? I know folks feel similar about RE4, but 4 was more of a side story as oppossed to the final chapter of the original story arc.

See now, that is sad. RE5's story as the end of the original story = + =
Barry should've busted in on Wesker at some point. 'Taste my magnum, motherf*ckkkker!!' Shoots him in the head, those leech things fall out and a new Wesker reforms and then there's two.. and more form if you keep doing it. You'd have to solve a envirnomental fire-type 'puzzle' to defeat him. But you'd have to burn up the 'real' Wesker to finally stop all of them. And none of that super fast kung-fu Wesker, either. Rebecca could've been included in safe houses or something and offered limited free healing at each one or something. And Jill, well heck Jill was so freakin' under-utilized in this. Sadly none of that was included. The gameplay itself is fine but the story is just for an ending.

To be honest, I'd much prefer for Lost in Nightmares to've just been a pre-release demo, along the lines of how they ended up doing Dead Rising 2 - Case:0.

Anyway, nothing that can be done to change that now.

Jill under-utilized? Shes in like more than 10 scenes int he game and in both DLC packs.

The un-used concepts for RE5 made a better game, such as the town infested with Lickers, 20 Ndesus attacking a city, a new Tyrant and other stuff I don't remember.

I didn't play Lost in Nightmares but judging by watching someone else playing it on youtube it looked kind of boring with no enemies aside from the rehashed Executioner and its biggest selling point being the nostalgia of returning to the Spencer mansion for the hundreth time. Seriously, every two or so games we either comeback to the Arklay mansion or there's a place that looks like it.

Ahhh, ALexdz saw the art book. The train being consumed by the giant Uruburos was actually one I liked a lot.

I really liked some artwork/screenshots of Chris going through an abandoned hospital. Sunlight streaming through the windows and still creepy as hell.

All that stuff sounds good. Any reasons why Capcom didn't keep it? Are the images available online?

This is how RE5 should have been.

And that's pretty much how the RE5 I played was. I don't quite get what it is that people see in that video that supposedly is so radically different from the first chapters of the final game.

This is one of the badass ideas they could have used that would have helped the game stand on its own two feet.

I'm always pissing in the wind with this it seems, but I absolutely love Resident Evil 5. Gave me some of my favourite moments of the series. I've spent more time with it than any of the other games in the series, and I find it to be considerably better paced than Resident Evil 4. But I appreciate that many don't and that's fair enough.

Regarding Lost in the Nightmares, i''m like a few that think it would of made a fantastic demo to the maingame, and allowed us as a fanbase to experience some time with knowing Jill is somewhat "dead" or at least gone with the universe. It seems strange on a playthrough, to jump straight into Resident Evil 5, and be suddenly told in a throwaway flash to a grave stone that Jill is dead. Lost In Nightmares give a few months before release would of been a really superb way of dealing with that.
