Who else thinks that RE5's Lost in nighmares should've BEEN RE5?

    No i think the first plan they had for re 5 should have been re 5.

It seems strange on a playthrough, to jump straight into Resident Evil 5, and be suddenly told in a throwaway flash to a grave stone that Jill is dead. Lost In Nightmares give a few months before release would of been a really superb way of dealing with that.
      Your not alone mate, RE5 is my 2nd favorite of the series.

      And i agree LIN should have been a DR Case Zero deal.

        Seriously? I think a pretty big difference in that trailer are the fast moving zombies for starters, something that would have done RE5 a lot of good in the horror department. Another thing is that there is no Sheva. People like myself who didn't want to play the main game in co-op were stuck with Sheva's horrible AI.

        So yeah, besides that obvious same environment there are some differences there which would have made the game a lot better and enjoyable in my opinion.

              I think they should have just released the earlier versions of 4, the various stages of 3.5. Instead of reusing stuff, like sections of Lost in Nightmares.

              Smiley can attest to having played 5, LiN with me that the entire time I ranted about reused content.

              Oh and I find it amusing that a lot of the staff that had been involved in 4, such as Seiko Kobuchi (composer for Zero, Demento among other games) who happened to lend her voice to the "Female Zombie", which ended up being the female ganados. Funny that nobody told her they weren't really much of anything anymore. :/

              Or how about the Developer Interview/Behind the Scenes bit, we still see them reusing sections of 3.5 (including the posed 3.5 Leon model and were STILL referring to the enemies as "zombies").

              I'm going back to play Demento, at least I can actually explore some of the scrapped areas that are seemingly missing the other side of the mansion.... which shows up in LiN. Yippie.

                RE5 is a pretty average game. I still enjoy it when playing with friends, but on its own I'm not too fond with having an AI partner tag a long through the entire game. It also wasn't that scary as a horror game, and as an action game the restrictions don't do it much favors. I'd say this game is a lesson on how to alienate the variety of fans you draw in, but as a high selling RE game for that reason Capcom thinks on it as a success.

                EDIT: Would anyone aside from Capcom be against the return of zombies even if they were faster?

                  Modified T-Virus, faster zombies, no complaints from me. It's the zombies remorselessness, utter focus and relatively high level of danger that makes them appealing to me. Ganados have the first two, but simply aren't dangerous enough in smaller numbers to make them anything but a pest.

                    I don't want a parasite forced down my throat. But I'd rather fight off a starfish mouth as opposed to a rotting walking corpse that can infect me in a single bite.

                        I think so. ORC will make use of them and give us a look at fighting classic enemies in the RE4/RE5 game play.

                          Takeuchi has confirmed in an interview that the first version of RE5 had zombies before they scrapped it. There are pictures in this link here showing the zombie models and concepts. That trailer was released in 2005, therefore it's safe to say that was the first build/version of RE5. How exactly is it that I'm seeing what I want to see?

                              There was also footage made when the game was still designed as a single player experience before the decision was made to bring co-op into it and force the theme of "partners" down our throats. The RE5 we had would have been better if there was no forced co-op involved. Simple solutions like optional co-op and single play via Peace Walker could have been designed. Or a separate mode altogether like Portal 2. That's not to say I hate Sheva, evil Jill or UROBOROS!!!! But encountering these aspects would have worked just as well in a game designed for single play.

                              The bosses in general with the exception of a few felt like rehashed RE4 bosses. I'd say the fight with El gigante in RE4 was a lot more interactive and fun as opposed to Ndesu in RE5. Salazar also took a bit of working around as opposed to Irving. But that's just my opinion.

                              As far as the co-op goes I did have fun playing with friends. It was a lot more convenient to play through together as opposed to the Outbreak games which at the time of their release made it a pain to play through unless we knew ahead of time how to go through the stages.
