  • So after playing the demo multiple times and messing around with all the settings, I figured I'd post my impressions.

The game is good, so far I think I like Jake's the most honestly, then Chris, then Leon. Leon's I'm sure I would of liked more if his wasn't 90% walking around doing absolutely nothing. I get why they would have it (zomg its not horror!!!) but I wish there was more combat like in the last 10% with the zombies. The controls take a bit of getting used to, and both me and a friend found them very strange at first. I wouldn't necessarily say they're bad, just very... weird. I think "loose" might be a better term.

Jake is fun with his melee although I'm not entirely sure how his works yet. It seems like you can chain multiple hits together but so far I'm still attempting to get him down. The Ustanak is pretty cool. Chris's section is honesty pretty good too. The cutscene before hand is weird though. Why does he not even remember what Bio-terrorism is? Common Chris, even if you're drunk, you gotta remember that.

I was messing around with the options and I gotta say, all the different customization options is pretty cool. Love how you can change the laser sight color now. One complaint I have though. There's an option that's called "Turn in game hints on/off." Now I turned this off originally to get rid of the way point marker (which I dread), but I soon found out that with this turned off, my HUD no longer shows when I aim. This is kind of a problem since half the time, with it off, I can't even tell what my health is/or my ammo. I have to manually press LB to get it to pop back up for a minute, but its more annoying than anything. I hope they fix this little issue in the final game and have an option to keep it popping up normally but turn the markers off.

Overall though, I'm enjoying the demo. Exploring every nook and cranny. Also, I love the main menu. The dark purple ominous alleyways with shadows of creatures depending on who you pick. Very eerie and I love it.

    • Gametrailers.com shows Sherry gameplay and she has a purple/blue looking laser was for her gun.

      • I dislike how you can examine pretty much nothing. FOr Leon this would have been especially nice since you do F-all for most the demo, I walked into that room with books and presumed you could read them, especially as one appears shiny, but nope. Cannot even examine them.

        • All files and examines are probably locked only for this demo. Same as with Revelations demo.

You can change the color of the laser in the options menu ala Revelations.

            • I remember Revelations not allowing the file reading and other things, still got hope for the final RE6 then.

Yeah, I thought it was strange, too. But, in fact, I think Chris is suffering from cranial trauma and he's not totally recovered from it. Occasional loss of memory occurs when you have that kind of trauma.

                • Finished playing a while ago. The camera is definitely a tad bit too close when you're aiming. It ends up blocking a good bit of what you're supposed to be viewing.

                  • For me Chris' scenario is deffinately my least favourite of the three. I probably like Leon's and Jake's equally even though you pretty much do nothing in Leon's. Honestly for me an enjoyable horror experience is not all about machine guns and spraying bullets everywhere killing half zombie half human terrists. Leon's scenario out of all of them left me wanting to play more, it was very much set in a real life environment with real people turning into zombies. It's all psychological, I like the feeling of helplessness you get from being a somewhat ordinary person, or being around ordinary people in an ordinary environment. Being some big muscle dude with guns, guns, more guns with dudes with guns just isn't scary to me, it's repetitive. Jake's scenario is different but it seems great as well, I like the cold environment and I feel very attached to Sherry, I want to know where she's been and what kind of trouble they've got them selves into. Chris' scenario I just couldn't care for one bit, as far as I see it it's just there to please the gun crazy action shooter heads, it wasn't even horror as far as I'm concerned.

                    • The camera is definitely freaking weird, and I'm still not having a grasp on the melee prompts in this game. Compared to RE4 and 5, the movement in 6 feels a lot more momentum based, where as the previous two games felt more intuitive honestly. It makes it really awkward to get head or leg shots to enable certain melee attacks. I dunno, maybe I just don't have a great grasp yet.

You could examine things in the Revelations demo.

                          • Well..... After being entirely unsure going in.

                            Take my money Capcom.

Absolutely fucking love it, and it's clear there's still loads of room for improvement. There's not really a lot I didn't like, and i'm struggling now. I appreciate Leon's scenario doesn't give much to do, but the initial build up right before you meet Liz's dad has great, great atmosphere. The combat is much better than I thought it was going to be, even if melee is a little too strong.

Think Sherry is really great from what we've seen, and how can anyone not like Piers. Bringing back my favourite character from a dark dark place like this great, and surely that sequence with Chris in the bar has got to be one of the series' finest, really great characterisation.

Just slightly worried that control wise, the dodging has been lifted straight from ORC, and it feels similar too.

                            • Playing as Sherry, man. Awful. Absolutely awful. Died numerous times in her campaign simply because of the camera angle. They could have brought back RE 1/2/3's fixed camera angles and it would have been better than this.

Anyone know if collecting all the emblems does anything? Any easter eggs found yet?

I also HATE the weapon changing screen, but it could be because I'm not used to it yet. The layout is terrible.

                              • For those that are interested: the blue medallion in the second scenario is on top of some tower after Chris and Piers split up. You can get it with both but it's a lot easier with Piers for obvious reasons.
Honestly I can't wait for this game, despite the issues I feel it'll be much better than 4 and 5 combined. I like how they let you play with any character in the demo, I wonder if it'll be the same in the final game.... also the cutscenes slightly change depending on who you're playing as and that's a nice touch. Overall co-op feels less rushed compared to RE5's.
