  • I do see what you mean by the outcome of RE5 when we got our hands on it, but RE6 has already proved it gives us back more of what we like then RE5 ever had.

I liked RE5 as a game but it did lack some key things I wanted from it and RE6 has already ticked enough box's for me so far.

    • As for the "rose-tinted" glasses comment from Newsbot; do you really want to get into an argument of seeing things through a very specific lens? You're the last person to be calling out folks on that kind of thing.
Elaborate. Last I checked I criticize the fuck out of everything.

Am I really the only one who remembers the outlandish praise and hype given to RE5 before its release (ON THIS VERY BOARD) only for there to be a sudden shift in opinion when people actually played the full game? All I'm saying is that this whole sequence of events is starting to look very, very familiar.
Revelations received a lot of hype and praise and, oh look, the game lived up to all of it and then some. Fact is, using a single game to judge every other one is pretty dumb. Particularly when they are not even made by the same people and what we have experienced of BH6 so far is very, very different (and superior) in comparison with BH5. Right now you're basing your judgement on an old demo build locked on easy mode and complaining about aspects that most people don't actually mind that much, and as pointed out, have been in the series for quite a while.

From the demo I already know that I will love the hell out of this game far more than BH5. My only two complaints so far are the screen-tearing and camera, both of which are very likely to be fixed come release.

I would much prefer if BH4, BH5 and BH6 did not have enemies that drop ammo (like Revelations), but it's not that big a problem.

You can try to use the submachine guns, but that feels like a waste.

Not for me. I hated RE5 the moment I set eyes on it, I gave it many many chances and still to this day I can not bare to play that game. RE6 on the other hand I went in with the same mind set as RE5 but the more I've played it the more I've come to like what they're doing. There's no more linear gameplay from start to finish; there's multiple scenarios all with their own unique style and I can go backwards and forwards dotting about completing them as I please. That on top of the new control scheme makes it more accessible and gives me far more freedom to actually enjoy what they've created. If I end up not liking the final product I'll be very surprised.

        • I haven't found enemies dropping near the amount of ammo compared to 4 and 5. I especially like that zombies don't seem to drop them. I only found one handgun ammo pickup in Leon's campaign and it's always near the central car in the lot, so I don't think zombies drop any ammo... just enemies with guns, like J'avo, which makes sense. Much better than 4 and 5 where every enemy drops oodles of ammo.

Also, about the difficulty: I think it's actually set on Normal, not "easy" or "casual," because when you join a co-op game it says "Normal" difficulty on the start-up screen. This could just be the setting for co-op, though, since the game would be, ideally, easier with another human player. Basically, I mean the solo demo could still be set on Casual; we can't really tell. Additionally, even if the solo game is on "Normal" it still starts you off in the demo with loads of ammo, so it's difficult to gauge how this game will really play until we're making our own playthroughs of the final version.

That chest sprouting J'avo is pretty awesome. When will the venerable love bot be able to translate for us?

Is that even, you know, possible? O_O I guess it is, because I've seen some crappy RE players over the years. I once saw someone run out of ammo in RE4.... RE4!!! How does that even occur?!?

            • I ended RE4 with enough ammo to take out a small army lol.

No RE is tight on ammo, this is a retarded myth. There are REs with less ammo compared to others, but every RE has an insanely abundant amount of ammo when used right.

                • If only the in-game cutscenes and graphics were as sharp and detailed as in the cover above.

I did a playthrough of RE4 on pro back when I was really good at it. I ended up having somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 shotgun shells, 300+ pistol rounds and, around 20 mag rounds (some kept from a previous playthrough) and strangely enough, 1 rifle round. xD Not to mention all the grenades.

Back on topic, I have to agree with the fact that ammo has never been sparse in RE titles. On my playthrough of RE1 back in the day, I had crazy amounts of ammo all the way to the end.

                      • I think RE1 (the original, not REmake) was the only RE game I was short on ammo at the end of. Though even that was just the case for the first few playthroughs at age 10.

You're absolutely right. However, the older games forced you to be smart about using your ammo - if you screwed up and wasted too much, there was no magical spawning ammo piles out of nowhere - you had to reload a save. The newer games hold your hand to the point that screwing up in this department is almost impossible.

                            Anyway, about the demo...

Leon's stage was incredibly boring. Apparently Capcom doesn't understand that linear gameplay with overly cinematic set pieces doesn't recapture the feel of the classic games. The scripted events make playing through it a second time a complete bore. As expected, the AI talks to you throughout, killing all immersion that would possibly be present if you were solo. However, I do hope we get to explore more of the university and actually encounter some zombies in there, as it reminds me a lot of Raccoon University. Bit of nostalgia there, and it would be better if the gameplay was done right.

Chris's stage feels like Rainbow Six or something, and not the awesome old R6's, but the newer, shittier ones like Vegas. There's absolutely no horror elements when 90% of the J'avo are wielding firearms. Capcom is too stupid to understand that they will never reach the sales that shooters like COD have, regardless of how many action elements or enemies with guns they throw into a "horror" franchise. Didn't the developers know that pretty much everyone hated the last two chapters of RE5 because of the gun-wielding Majini?!

Jake's scenario is the one I found to be the most interesting. I don't like that there are areas that only one character can reach, though - just another bad addition stemmed from the forced partner crap that's killing the series. Anyway, the chase part was kind of lame, but I really enjoyed the boss fight (sans the stupid armed J'avo). It was easily the most tense section of the demos, and the only part where I died multiple times.

I do hope they fix the screen tearing, though - it gets really bad at times. Other than that, I really like the addition of skill points over money and treasures. It adds an RPG-ish system to the game that I enjoy. Too bad they don't do anything for you in the demo.

I also like how the HUD and inventory screens are different for each campaign. Did anyone notice that Leon and Helena have the same style, Chris and Piers have the same style, but Jake's is different than Sherry's?

                            Mass production? Ridiculous!

                            • I have a feeling Chris's demo is a more reversed Storm before the calm, you go into China with your team but what happens when you go into the Ace of Spades? a more cramped and less chaotic section I imagine. Just give Chris's campaign a chance, it won't all be on rooftops with tons of enemies and I know for a fact people here and lots of other people will shit themselves when faced with those bigger mutations and that snake type of enemy.
