  • Really? I've only played RE4 three times, but played Re1, RE2 and RE3 in excess of thirty times each. There's just no reason to go play RE4 again for me. No alternate scenes, not even an interesting plot, not much new that I missed in the first play through...

Of course, despite it's multiplexer I've only played RE5 twice.

    • I played RE5 for awhile, in order to get the platinum trophy, but after that I never really played it again. I'll probably dust it off and pop it in soon just because RE6 is coming out, but that's about it. I've played RE1-3 more times than I can count, The Remake about 60+ times, RE0 around 10 times and RE4 about 25-30+ times. Of the numbered entries, Code Veronica is easily the game I've played the least, probably around 3 runs.

RE4, while far from my favorite entry, was a great game in general and somehow kept me coming back for more. Whatever "it" was that got me hooked to RE4, there was never a mysterious attraction to RE5 in the least bit, which is sad because Chris has always been my favorite character and his big adventure(that was supposedly his last at the time)just didn't really do it for me.

That's true aswell , but still RE4 to me was as good as RE2 , Maybe not better , but it was great , so was RE2.

        • When did Resident Evil became Crap of Duty with vampires?

The Chris scenario was the worst thing I ever seen lately, the bad guys (I don't know how to call theme) with machineguns, is that Resident Evil? Did they played S.T.A.L.K.E.R., no, because there are zombies fully equipped, but they are zombies not this stuff that burn after you kill it, I know that the memory is limited and you can't leave on screen too much stuff, but there weren't other ways to make them disappear? I see that for the walls they didn't goes too fancy, after some seconds, boom!, vanished. The consoles are doomed, if you have to remove pieces of environment in that way to make the game still playable.

The only good thing was the Leon scenario, not that the plot was "wow", but the fact that there are zombies lights up my interests for this game, but I think Capcom trained themselves watching Terra Nova and Falling Skies looking at how cheesy the scenes are.

          • Sonic check out the Chris Snake Boss video, possibly one of the best parts of his campaign I have seen so far it has true RE style to it.

            • To me, co-op actually diminished the replay value of 5. It forces the player to either a) get in contact with, either a friend/relative or an online partner, tainting and removing what little atmosphere that game had or b) limit them/hinder them with an unreliable AI and half-baked partner command system. Either way isn't very fun and certainly is not Resident Evil. If there must be a multiplayer component, it should've been limited to Mercenaries.

The partner AI doesn't seem to have improved much either (Helena is never able to shoot the zombie like she's supposed to during the elevator QTE). I can at least credit Capcom for having them stay back more often to be less intrusive, but that doesn't really change much.

She's not supposed to shoot it. If you're playing single-player, it's solely up to you to shoot it, as either Leon or Helena.

Not what I'm referring to. In that QTE, if you're Helena, you shoot the zombie off of Leon (who, in turn shoots the sombie while it's on top of you or you wriggle out fast enough). If you're Leon, Helena does nothing, while you shoot it off of her but are unable to prevent the zombie from biting you no matter how fast you wiggle the stick. Either they specifically programmed Helena not to shoot the zombie off of you on time, or it's faulty AI.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why I hate people who bash the AI, most of the time they don't know shit.

                        Pretty much what I said.

                        • Here's what I'm saying:
Play as Helena -> elevator attack -> shoot zombie off of Leon -> escape zombies grasp with QTE (and no bites) ->zombie is dead
Play as Leon -> elevator attack -> QTE doesn't stop zombie, Helena doesn't shoot -> shoot zombie off of Helena -> zombie is dead

The sequence itself doesn't change between characters - the events still happen as they're supposed to- but as Helena, Leon doesn't get bitten because you, the player, shoot her off. As Leon, Helena AI doesn't shoot the zombie. There's clearly a discrepancy here. It could be intentional, like has been said, but if so it's a strange way to create that scene.

It would be like if, in RE5, during the motorcycle Majini QTE, you had control over where you fired the shot at the chain: As Sheva, you shoot the chain and everything turns out fine, as Chris, AI Sheva neglects to shoot the chain, so you take some damage.

It's either bad AI or a poorly thought out sequence -- take your pick.
