  • Damn, I'm pretty glad that this game is getting such mixed reviews. Really looking forward to playing it myself and seeing what I give it. In my opinion, even if the game is shit, there's no way possible it can be worse than ORC. Destructoid is a joke and so is Jim sterling. Gave ORC a 7.5 and this a 3? Said it makes Anderson's films look good? Yeah, you got issues there buddy...

    IGN sounds about what I expect. Gametrailers is a bit high though, and I usually agree with them the most. Ah well, I guess sales will truly tell what RE7 will be.

    • I don't really believe that the sales will be bad. the promotion has been insane. My Special european edition was shipped today. I would be very happy for it to arrive tomorrow since Wednesday is a holiday here in Germany. Ugh, I would have something to do on the holiday (unless I can spend that with my love)...

      • RE6 on PS3 is almost completely sold out in my country, I doubt sales will be bad.
        That 3 review is a joke, you can't tell me that RE6 is generic and uninspired and then give ORC a 7.5.

        • Thank you, Gamespot.

          Game was deserving of such a score. Capcom tried too hard to inject this game with so many other action elements. Sure, the game has a lot of content, but what's the point when it's all fluff?

          Maybe if Capcom sees critics are panning the game they'll wisen up and stop cranking out the sequels so quickly or actually go back to survival horror roots (lol, fat chance, but still.)

            • Seriously it is a disgrace to award the game such a low score, opinions or not the game still has enough quality to be given higher then that.

                    It's an opinion that the game tries hard to rip off western action games. It's a fact that it implements all of these things poorly and makes the game fatiguing to play.

                    Yeah, the game has a lot of content - but I pity anyone who would want to play through the game more than twice. Redundant monotonous 30 hours of gameplay, flashy cutscenes and overstuffed QTE's shouldn't be enough to make a game deserving of a high score.

                    I think a lot of the reviewers were expecting more from Capcom with RE6, hence the slightly higher review for something like ORC from a third party developer and the lower review for RE6 with it's expectation being set high, but just being dragged down with what the average game today is and whoring out the franchise in the lowest possible ways.

                    Maybe Capcom will keep making bad games like this and just remember to mail the check to Gamespot for RE7, who knows.

                    • It rips off Western games? it actually did things new unlike western games.

                      Do you see games like COD or Gears of War introducing something new such as RE6's impressive and functional mobility options? do you see Western games trying something like RE6's crossplay? How about Agent Hunt? wasn't it namco with Dark Souls who really brought that into light?

                      It's not Western developers who introduce most of these new ideas it is the Japanese, heck RE4 basically started the over the shoulder trend and western games can't stop using the bloody thing.

                      Dead Space 3 now has enemies with guns and has introduced a co-op option, just wait and I bet we will see the Crossplay or some of these new mobility options RE6 has in Western games.

                      • Right in the spot Shane.

                        Besides reviewing this game to ORC levels is simply moronic.

                          Not just Western games, but that is the norm of what is popular in casual gaming at the moment.

                          I'd hardly call the mobility options functional, either. In order to switch to different types of grenade rounds, you have to go into ammo HUD, highlight the grenades - then press (I think it was) LB to get to the weapon branch out menu, then go through the list to specifically choose grenade launcher and then scroll to which type of round you wanted (acid, nitrogen, explosive.) After that, you have to go back into the weapons menu and equip the grenade launcher if you didn't already have it out and reload.

                          The Destructoid article also sums up healing pretty well;

                          Health recovery has also been tampered with, the classic herb system now replaced with tablets. While herbs are still collected, they're useless until the player goes into the menu and mixes them into these tablets, which are swallowed with a quick button press. One pill restores one block of health, and in order to replenish several blocks at once, the tablet button must be pressed the corresponding number of times. Why? Why was the simple idea of using a health item dragged out into several more contrived steps? This enhances the game in no way whatsoever, it's just convoluted for the sake of being convoluted. Of all the things to alter, I cannot fathom who in their right mind would have the hubris to try and reinvent the working method of health restoration with all the elegance of a train full of rhinos.
                          So yeah, I shouldn't have said Western games, but the entire premise just reeks of poorly implemented borrowings. Again, from Destructoid;

                          If one were to remove the legacy of the Resident Evil name and release this as an original IP, it would occupy shelf space somewhere between Quantum Theory and Inversion, those built-on-a-budget "me too" shooters that follow unambitiously in the footsteps of Gears of War and (ironically) Resident Evil 4, copying the most popular games on the market in childlike hope that they may enjoy the same success.

                            Well RE6 is already sold out in half of the Europe. Bad reviews or not RE6 will be in very short time the best seling RE game to date imo. I have no doubt about it. So with Capcom "Gold edition' is very VERY possible.
