So, say you already stashed a bunch of small herbs as well as some mixed herbs - but your health is depleted only one notch and you want to use the small herb, you can't. It'll just use whatever is next in the stash. Of course, I could be wrong on this, either way the thing was a bumbling mess. Why not just let you heal from within the herb selection menu? Why not just put your herbs into the stash automatically?
R2+Square automatically mixes herbs from your inventory AND adds them to your case, ready for use. If you have a red herb and a bunch of green ones the game will always mix that one first and it only mixes and adds 6 at a time (red+green or 3 greens) unless you don't have the 3 green herbs obviously.
It takes a second and you can run while doing it, then just tab R2 to heal. And btw you can stack multiple capsules so there's no need to mix the herbs while under attack, mix them as you get them.

As a side note there's an issue with the digital version of the game. If you download the RE.net patch you're no longer the owner of the content so you can't access it .... Sony is apparently going to upload an activation key on PSN but until then no online play.

CAPCOM has a pretty notorious track-record for treating employees pretty badly. I'm hesitant to say it sounds like a Japanese thing, but it sounds like a Japanese thing. I've heard similar reports from several other Japanese developers.

        It's an 11mb update. I don't know what it's changed (I haven't tried playing with it yet).
I believe it has something to do with RE.net launching.

Do you see games like COD or Gears of War introducing something new such as RE6's impressive and functional mobility options? do you see Western games trying something like RE6's crossplay? How about Agent Hunt? wasn't it namco with Dark Souls who really brought that into light?

It's not Western developers who introduce most of these new ideas it is the Japanese, heck RE4 basically started the over the shoulder trend and western games can't stop using the bloody thing.

Dead Space 3 now has enemies with guns and has introduced a co-op option, just wait and I bet we will see the Crossplay or some of these new mobility options RE6 has in Western games.
Actually, COD4 did bring a lot of new elements into the franchise. It revolutionized it probably on the same scale as RE4 did. Except, COD4 is a flawless masterpiece, with it's new elements making the gameplay better, richer, without departing from the original "feel", and without sacrificing quality for some nicer explosions.

          "Impressive functional mobility options"?

Have we really come to describe a RE title with these words, even if it's one of the least clunky in the series.

The game is a joke. And people are trying to rationalize the mixed reviews?

I'm having issues figuring out what CoD4 actually did right, other than finally steering away from the stagnating WWII setting (is that revolutionizing?), brushing up its graphis ("pretty" revolutionizing?) and also proving that massive hype/marketing can sell something to just about anyone (revolutionizing the marketing push ...?)

            A joke? No.
            A mess? Sure.

Is it a bad game? Not really. I think RE6 can be used as a prime example of what's basically WRONG with the current day review system. You know, where a game is either a 10/10 top or a total flop. While no one could probably justify giving it a top score, you'd have a lot of explaining to do if you gave it a notably low score; considering all the stuff you're likely to've previously given a better score.

By the time I realized that, it was too late, though.

And consider that most people were coming from the awesomeness that was RE4 (gameplay wise) and were expecting something just as good if not better. So you cannot blame us for jumping into that game right away. Besides, most of RE5's reviews were initially positive from what I remember.

After getting burned by RE5, its obvious that many would act differently with 6. Well, some did. Cuz with some other people... well, lets say that they have invested too heavily into RE6 for months (if not years). To the point that they will tolerate its numerous flaws no matter how much they poke them in the eye.

This pretty much sums it up: "Resident Evil 6: proof that a video game can be morbidly obese." -Evan Narcisse, Kotaku.com

                    • I'll be going to pick up my copy in a little over an hour and then back to spend the rest of my day playing. It should be a good day.

I agree, with 5, ORC and 6 I feel like they sealed their co-op/multi-player fate.

It definitely is not a joke. Very flawed? Definitely. There is no need to rationalize mixed reviews as they speak for themselves: it's a polarizing game, one you either love or hate. As it happens, most of my favorite games are like that, although 6 is not one of them. However, it is probably the only AAA title I felt I actually fully enjoyed this generation, which says a lot considering how generally flawed the game is.

                          • And why DID the game turn out so flawed? Did they just try to do too much with it?

                            • Think it's the "Me too" label they've gotten. Vanquish, Binary Domain, Lost Planet 2, Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil 6 all carry the "Me too" label, yet, strangely enough, they are some of the most content heavy games on the market in their "me too" genre and probably have the most solid and elaborate underlying mechanics for various shit, something which can not be said for the games they are usually accused of copying.

People accuse it of being a Gears of War copy, they go in expecting it to play like Gears of War.
In Gears of War; You open a door, duck 'n' cover, if someone gets close enough you chainsaw lock yourself with a guy and tear the guy a new one (or execute him with a the pre-baked animation for your weapon of choice - if he's down.)
In Resident Evil 6; You open a door and smear a guy's face all over the door-frame, you pick up the next guy and throw him at a crowd, twist the neck of the last guy currently standing, jump down and knee explode the face of a guy who's still struggling to stand up, smash the next guy's head into a table and then spawn another make up session between the last guy and the wall he's facing ... all because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

                              • So far I played the prologue and Leon's first chapter. I have no big complaints at the moment , except for that I actually thought that I would do better then a C rank and take less then two hours, but I guess that is me getting used to the game. Also I miss the mini-chapter structure. The charackters from Leon's campaign (him and Helena) move so akwardly that it annoys me, but I guess there I need to get used to that.
