  • To put it bluntly, Kobayashi has absolutely no faith in survivor horror or its fans. He doesn't believe RE can survive with only that sub-genre and said fan base pushing it forward. He's convinced that they need casuals in order to thrive and keep going for the long haul.

What I find hilarious is that this sort of madness is happening on the HD twins and not on a Nintendo console. Where you would expect such bullshit. But then again, Nintendo got Revelations and the HD twins got ORC. And which one sold the most? ORC.

So, I guess Kobayashi and Kawata have a point. From a $ale$ point of view.

Being that we've been getting the same thing since RE4 only now with extra doses of Michael Bay, thats not a good thing. What makes it worse is that they've had two games since, to try to get it right. Instead they still focus on the over the top action crap instead of the story or characters.

You really want to see them do Alex Wesker ? I dont. Not with what they're doing now. You want them to complete the story, thats fine. I do agree with you on that, but you dont seem to care what they do to the story as long as they finish it, I swear to god we've 1 game away from having Alice as the main character at this rate.

Dont do this to yourself man. You deserve better, I deserve better, the fanbase as a whole deserves better.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: If they went back to the beginning, back to the basics and kept chunks of what they've done now as combat options, or as scares, they could really do something amazing.

Going back to the beginning and using what worked(atmosphere, closed isolated settings) and combining it with some of the more recent changes to the combat engine, mix in some randomization on enemies/events, tweak the story a bit(plenty of supplementary material on game 1 that we never knew about outside of Japan that would be nice to have included) and toss in multi player mercenaries/ a co-op mode and a few small weapon upgrades mixed in and they could have something good.

They could have something great if they have better dialogue, more interactive backgrounds(running into walls, opening doors, and climbing ladders is kind of 1999) and mixed in some more variation in the monsters like they did in 6 with the zombies(some spit acid, some use weapons, the giant fat ones, etc) and its not like they dont have to have action and stuff in the game(as thats become a major selling point).

Yeah what I've said is basically a variation of what we've gotten, but there really are lots of other things you can add to change the experience as a whole.

If they did a reboot and at least half of what I just listed, I'd be back into this series faster than a Wesker fan girl on Wesker.

      • Six AI following me around and getting in my way. SIX! Suddenly I miss Sheva. I'm pretty sure one of the biggest complains was stupid AI partners, am I right in assuming this was a popular complaint? Or did people really give Capcom the impression that we actually wanted more? I really don't understand their logic, I really don't.

In ORC, every AI go right in front of you so you couldn't shoot or at least, hit those stupid bots. RE6 its the same?

Nope. ORC's AI is just moronic. RE6's aren't great, but are way better than what we had on 5 in my opinion.

But then again, 3/4 of THIA members despise RE6 anyway, so they suck (EDIT: the AI, not the people! LOL) .

                How about some numbers then?

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that worldwide initial shipments of "Resident Evil 6", the latest addition to the "Resident Evil" franchise, for "PlayStation® 3" and Xbox 360® have surpassed 4.5 million.

Mission accomplished. They should meet the 7 million by March 2013 goal in no time.

                • Not surprised, they hyped the shit out of the game since the first teaser 6 months back.

Targeting mainstream gamers works... it just does.

Check out Facebook or Twitter. Lots of people talking about getting RE6 cuz, y'know... why not?

It's not really bad it's just annoying, you find rooms end up really crowded and the game is so dark it's hard to tell who is who half the time. Bullets are flying all over the place, near and affar, the AI obscures cover points, sometimes it's okay but sometimes you have one tiny corridor with you, six AI and a bunch of enemies coming from all angles, it's super crowded. There's just no need for it all.

The argument of unsuccessful RE titles isn't quite justified imo. Often the success of a RE title is equivelant to the success of the system. RE0 and RER were both unsuccessful, but so were the NGC and 3DS respectively. The PS3 and 360 have much bigger audiences so for ORC to have bigger numbers than RER isn't a surprise. Hell I'm a RE fan and I still haven't bought a 3DS or RER, not because RER is a bad game but because the 3DS is an undesirable system.

RE0 sold 1.3 million on the NGC. RE4 sold 1.7 million on the NGC and 3.6 million on the PS2. This just shows the more popular the system the better the sales.

My mistake though, was giving you too much credit. Despite what you had said about trying to understand the opinions that went against yours, you only said that for dramatic effect. You didn't really mean it. Amiright?
Nope. Still wrong. There was nothing in my statement that insulted anyone that dislikes RE6, and there was no judgment put forth. I simply stated that those three groups have an almost unanimous hate for this game, which is a fact everyone agrees on, and that I was confused by their hatred.

There literally was nothing in my post about having a problem with people expressing their opinion. There was simply a statement of befuddlement.

                        • Why is RE.net such shit? I can barely access it and when I do, I get errors everywhere and none of my correct information is showing. Sigh.

I finished Leon's campaign earlier. I absolutely loved it until the end. The final boss, while extremely cool looking, is such a bitch to fight. I also had to do the worst QTE I've ever had to do in my life. What were they thinking? Besides that, the gameplay before hand I thought was great. Hell, I actually jumped at one part during Leon's campaign. Definitely a welcome treat. The story seems weird so far but it also does not seem bad. I'm starting Chris's now. I keep hearing good things about his campaign, so I'm looking forward to it.

Actually, the 3DS has sold 7 million units in Japan alone as of August. It's apparently the most pre-ordered system in nintendo history in addition. Sure, I don't think it'll reach console numbers, but to call it unsuccessful is pretty ignorant.
