  • This Japanese article mentioned something about Chris disembarking with his unit to China to save trapped United Nations officials(probably being held by the J'avo terrorists). Reveals that Leon works for the "DSO"-Division of Security Operations(which is printed on the premium edition jacket).

haha they wont admit its ada ( the whole clone thing could very well be true).
And it won't end with ADA if true... more clones could be on the way...

            • Clones? Really? I mean come on, the classic RE games look like literary masterpieces compared to some of this stuff.

Kobayashi: "There were a lot of good elements of the action in RE5, and we wanted to make sure we carried those over to RE6, so we're not ignoring the good that was in RE5."

Not sure what game they were playing, because there wasn't anything good in RE5.

I also love how they say that Leon and Chris are "getting up there in years," so they decided to add some "young blood" in the form of Wesker's son. I'm calling it now - Leon and Chris will not be seen after this game, and RE7 will star the near-invincible Marty and Mary Sues Jake and Sherry melee killing everything in sight. RE needs to break away from what every other damned game is doing, and do something original again. RE6 isn't even out yet and I'm already sick of this shit.

Tell me about it. If "Ada" turns out to be a clone, it will be the biggest cop-out in the series (even bigger than resurrecting Wesker). Say you're playing through RE6 and you think it's Ada the whole time, but it's just Capcom trying to get fans' (and Leon's) emotions up - at the end of the game it's just Carla or whatever the fuck her name is. Terrible writing.

                Mass production? Ridiculous!

                • Are clones REALLY so unbelievable in the Resident Evil universe? I think there's a reason various non-canon Resident Evil merchandise has taken that route. I think we all knew, deep inside, that it's something that would eventually come up in the series.

Yes. It's incredibly stupid. And anytime it's used it's a bad idea, non-canon or otherwise.

There's no reason for Ada to need a clone. You could write a reason, and no matter how probable it'll still be a terrible direction to take the character.

EDIT: Just to clarify, clones are always used as cop-outs to some explain chaotic circumstances. Even in a series dealing with BOWs I've always found the idea of cloning to be a lingering problem for this franchise. A shape shifting BOW is one thing. If the plot required a "who can you trust" scenario then a monster taking the form of people you know could work. Like 'The Thing' or 'Bodysnatchers'. This is Resident Evil though. Cloning main characters to explain minor or important details is always an issue that raises way too many unnecessary questions. It also creates a path for the story to get out of a jam. Killing Wesker once again? Clone him. Jill is found? What if she's the clone? How do you mass produce a army of minions or monsters? Send in the clones!

Spare me the terrible writing. Few movies and even fewer games could get away with "cloning".

Plus if RE6 did make our antagonist out to be Ada and then pulled a twist where there was a clone of her to create misdirection then that rips off a certain comic book video game that came out where the story and mythology made use of a shape shifting character.

Clones have already happened. The problem is it's a bad idea.

Killed Wesker? Nah, killed a clone. Or a clone Wesker appears to take his place. Or some stupid shit.

Cloning in this fashion is basically a lazy way out of having to worry about character deaths. If people bitch Ada dies, eh, we can say she was a clone. Etc, etc.

And frankly, it gets unsatisfying. 'Oh look, I've killed Wesker again. That's the fourth time he's died. I bet he won't show up again at all!' You no longer give a shit because, well, been there, done that. And every time it'll be the final time...until it's not.

Leave cloning tech with the B.O.W's. At least there it can't do too much damage.

                        • I agree whole heartedly Smiley. Ada is arguable one of the greatest characters in the series, and to see it all potentially turned upside its head would be disheartening entirely.

Clones are by and large a terrible idea in most mediums, depressingly the only time I ever feel they worked was in Star Wars, the idea of a clone army isn't a unfeasable one.

                          • I didn't even like The Clone Wars. The "clones" did not have to be integrated into an actual enemy force. Ruins the idea of Storm Troopers being actual individuals enlisted during a time of chaos in the galaxy which in turn lessens the stakes of the "war" itself. Basically it's programmed test tube soldiers fighting droids.... Undermines war over all. Also unnecessarily recreates Boba Fett in the process when he worked just fine as a bounty hunter. Supplemental material aside, if you look at all six Star Wars films from a story standpoint then the progression from a clone army to regular enlisted troopers with no explanation given proves to be terrible writing.

Though it might explain why they're terrible shots in the original trilogy - degradation of the genes utilized to create them or something.

Seriously, I hope the clone thing was just something the poster added to mess with people. Sergei was bad enough.
