Pfffffft!.... My friend... mistranslations in the Bible are NOT accidental.

The more you read up on who translated that set of books, you realize that they were always giving it a bit of spin. Always.

And that was the point of my previous post. Someone will look at the source material and give it their own take when translating it. Basically, spinning it to fit their own personal views or agenda or whatever.

I have read up on who translated that set of books. A lot of it is still mistranslation and not spin. There is some spin, surely. That is to be expected. But that doesn't mean it isn't one heavily mistranslated text. I believe the current version is a translation of a translation of a translation of an original. That's just begging to get fucked up.

      • Whenever they had doubts about something when translating it, they gave it a good spin. I read enough of it to know that. But I rather not discuss it here. Of all places.

Instead let's talk clones and the fashion statements Helena and the other characters are making in RE6.

        • I'm amazed by the developpers' confidence in the game. It's the first time I've seen Capcom so proud and enthusiastic about an RE game. That's a very good sign.

          • It's actually rare when they aren't that enthusiastic.

In fact, only if the RE dev was named Shinji Mikami did we see them act any different.

The team working on BH6 is essentially the best you can get out of the BIOHAZARD Team unless through some miracle Shinji Mikami, Hideki Kamiya, Hiroki Kato, Kazuhiro Aoyama and Yasuhisa Kawamura re-joined CAPCOM.

Here, here... what's this all about?

I was saying that the Bio team are usually merry and happy-go-lucky fellas most of the time... and that I've only noticed something different from Mikami. Bless his soul.

They were never THAT enthusiastic. Of course they had to show some excitement for the previous games in order to promote them, anyway. But I remember, for RE5, how Kawata said there was a lot of conflicts between Takeuchi and his team, how they missed Mikami, etc....

All the betas and scrapped concepts of BH2 and BH4 also shows how they had some doubts about their games in the past. For BH1 they didn't even know if gamers were going to like it.

For BH6 Kobayashi said that they even changed the release date because they were eager to share it with everyone else! I think that's a clear indication of how they are confident about their game.

They should have gone old school with the localisation and used the direct translations. And got voice actors that emphasize the words that are in quotation marks. I can just imagine that last one in the style of RE1 Chris.

The irony is that the BH1 script actually sounds fine when literally translated, hahaha.

The words in quotations aren't actually meant to be emphasized in speech, it's just a text thing. But that would be hilarious.

Not according to crystal-ball gazer Michael Pachter. They're releasing the game early to enjoy less competition in the Fall.

Not that I agree with him. Maybe you're right on your take on why they did it. Who knows.

I honestly don't think the release date was changed that much for competitive reasons. The only titles this holiday that RE would have to worry about are Assassin's Creed III, the new Call of Duty, and Halo 4. ACIII is well outside of competing with RE6's initial release date (Oct 30th vs. Nov 20th), Call of Duty games usually ship around Nov. 8th-Nov. 10th, so that still doesn't pose as much worry for RE6 since it would still wouldn't be within the same week of release. And if Capcom was worried about competition, I think they'd just move the game back a couple of weeks into December where it's much safer.

That said, the release date being pushed forward, especially so much, is confusing. Only thing I can think of that justifies it is that development of the title really is going smoother and more efficient than expected.

                          • Maybe "competitive reasons" means "We are tryin to ****block everyone else"?

Seems plausible, but it brings the question if the virus could replicate memories.
