However, I'm waaay to old school to fall for that alone. I really want to know how this one will play like. Gameplay over everything else, here. The story can be cool and all. But once you see it on a first run, you skip all cutscenes and the files on a second run. The gameplay is what will always turn a game into a keeper.
So yeah... pardon me for not going bonkers for RE6 yet. I need to see MOAR 'bout that gameplay.
The plot can be the coolest thing in the world, but if the gameplay sucks, the game in general sucks. When I play a video game, I want a game, not an interactive movie with four hours of cutscenes. Gameplay is what keeps people coming back to games, far more than story.
From what we've seen, the game will have objective markers, a simplified inventory (is it possible to be simpler than RE5's?), probably be massively linear (read: lack of exploration), and feature two characters with regenerating health. To me, these things are complete no-no's in the world of Resident Evil. They'll have to make up for it with amazing gameplay if I'm going to buy it.
Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostI actually thought RE4 had an interesting story... :S Not so much about what was going on with Leon, but what was going on in and around this little village. It's a tragic story that seemed more personal than the tragedy in Raccoon City, not sure why.

Originally posted by Dracarys View Post- Chris yet again, major role in RE5, major role in Revelations, Major role in RE6.
- Wesker Jr who we got no previous attachment to so should not care about
- Sherry has returned, except she now sounds like Ashley and elsewise has turned into Alice, so she has pretty much returned in name only. Her biggest linking character to her original self, Claire, is absent.
- Ada 2.0 falls under the clone comments.
- Ada Prime has 2.0 doing a better job at being bad than she ever did, so getting overshadowed by a clone.
As for Ada and Ada Prime (lol), the clone thing will probably turn out to be the worst plot idea in the series. Yep, even worse than electric sex-changed tyrants, Spanish castellans with Napoleon complexes, or zero-G suit ninja battlecat Jill.
Piers and Helena are new characters; every game has them. Judging from the first two trailers, they both seem more interesting to me than any of the new characters in RE5. It doesn't mean that Chris, Leon, Claire, and Jill should be retired, however.Mass production? Ridiculous!

@Det. Beauregard (didn't feel like doing quote box surgery. xD)
I think the plot of RE4 could have rolled out in a much darker fashion as well, but as far everyone hating the cheesy jokes... that's kind of his character. I mean, in the Project Umbrella profile for Leon S. Kennedy (obviously citing reliable sources, it's PU.), it basically says that's his defense mechanism in stressful situations. I think that the phase he was going through in RE4 passed quickly as he racked more missions up, as evidenced by Degeneration.
Whilst on the subject of Degeneration, it seems like no one understands that seeing so much horror in one lifetime might make a person a little muted. xD At first people are tired of Leon seemingly joking about, then he gets serious and people dislike that too.sigpic

I still find it amusing when people slobber all over Operation Raccoon City, but when it comes to a genuinely good and interesting game, they shaft it.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

ORC looked fucking awful from day one to now. RE6 has some redeeming features. I just dunno if they'll be enough to make it a good game or if it'll just be RE5 with even more action.

Originally posted by Det. Beauregard View PostI liked his personality and terrible jokes in RE4; I just think they detracted from the darkness of the situation a little bit. Leon since then (Operation Javier, Degeneration, and now probably RE6) has been overly serious and boring, just like Chris. Degeneration happened only one year after the events of RE4, but he seems like a completely different person....
Also, after the RE4 incident he basically became the US Government's golden boy for such events. Pressure to perform adequately may have pushed him into his current demeanor. Much like Chris began to train heavily after the incident with Wesker in the Spencer Mansion, giving him that roided up look in RE5, just so he could be strong enough to take on Wesker next time they crossed paths.
It seems a little too in depth of a take on his personality, but when you read the backstory the original Japanese game creators gave him, it's not that farfetched.Last edited by AsteroidBlues; 05-09-2012, 11:39 PM.sigpic
