It took me a minute or two to recognize Chris Redfield. In fact, it wasn't until Piers Nivans, a BSAA agent that was sent to retrieve Chris from his hiatus in Eastern Europe, began talking to him that it clicked for me. Chris had been drinking, and in calling for another round, the bartender cut him off. He was kicked out of the bar, but refused to leave.
This being a seedy bar, things got rough, almost escalating into a fight. Piers stopped it, though. He had been searching for Chris for six months, and though he was disappointed by his drunken state, he did not intend to back down. He insisted that Chris belonged at the BSAA, and was needed. It turned out that nearly everyone in the bar was also a BSAA agent, and they were all there to bring him back home -- by force, if needed.
Sounds greatthe stories all seem much more interactive and deep this time around.

Originally posted by News Bot View PostThe "new Chris" concept is great. He has been a fairly dull and by-the-books character since his appearance. A typical hero who doesn't seem to suffer from the events surrounding him. If his dialogue in the previous trailers (in the script, but not translated into the game for some fucktard reason) is to be believed, then he has a life-threatening injury that will eventually kill him. That alone is reason enough for him to be in such a state. Add to it the fact that he was forced to watch his team die, yet again. It's great character development for a character who has never really had much.

Of course, this is only what we've seen so far. My biggest fear is that the game will be extremely environmentally linear (even more so than RE5, if that's possible). I have no interest in linear, point A-to-point B games. Exploration is critical, and the introduction of co-op to the series seems to have pretty much killed it. Do people actually like games where moving from one arena to the next via a linear corridor is the norm?!
If I want a bunch of cinematic sequences with lots of running and explosions, I'll watch a movie. I play games for the gameplay.

Why is everyone at IGN such a bunch of knobheads. Is that what qualifys for a good reviewer now? Can you imagine that in Empire movie magazine reviews. 'The new Star Wars is awesome and if the old school dont like it then they can fuck off!' Cheeky fucking rat.Mass production? Ridiculous!

Opening looks great. We'll finally get to see the Chris Redfield that would get kicked out of the air force and punch a man for spilling coffee on him.
It's sad though. He saves the world multiple times, and the bartender can't let him have one for the road?

Thanks for the links, Elusion.
Unfortunately, aside from the opening cutscene, this looks boring as hell. Bland environments, boring combat, and linearity. With each new video this looks more and more like RE5, which was easily the weakest game in the main series. Apparently Capcom learns nothing. They think COD junkies are going to eat this shit up, but why would they with a new COD game just around the corner?
Not to mention that parts of this just look like they'll be boring as hell on a second playthrough (like all the QTEs). That's the problem with all these interactive movie-style games - they're not designed for replayability. Once you've found out the outcome and played through the story, there's nothing left, since the actual gameplay isn't strong enough to come back to.
Games are just getting worse and worse.Mass production? Ridiculous!

Bland and boring?
In the case of Redfield's section the scenario looks enriched with color and detail over the environments. What I like about the Chris section is that this is a hardened Chris on the edge. He saved Claire and Jill, but here he's lost the team that trusted him under his command. He killed Wesker, but the battle is far from over. He's out for blood.Last edited by Smiley; 06-06-2012, 12:39 AM.
