Wow, that Chris opening was intense, wish there was sound though.

There are plenty of reasons not to like the game. 'I'm not a big fan of run and gun, co-op based action shooters' being totally valid.
It looks like big improvement over RE5 so far, and it's obvious Capcom is really trying to add some atmosphere and scares into the game. But it still looks like it's mostly a fast paced action game with a single linear path to follow and no puzzles at all...something ORC got a lot of flak for, I seem to recall.
So far, my opinion is pretty much, 'It looks better than I was expecting, but it's not good enough to make me want to buy it new' so...but on the other hand, I haven't seen the newer gameplay videos yet. Chris' intro sounds promising. It's the most basic of character development, something that should have happened a decade ago, but it is something. Fleshing out the characters would be a big deal, but it would also mean they need to start fleshing out the villains into realer people, and that means less 'Global Domination/Becoming a God' bullshit.

The only bit I've really seen atmosphere so far is the start of Leon's section. But, again, I haven't seen everything there is to see yet. China doesn't seem to have much atmosphere, though...mostly it seems to have explosions. And bike races!
I don't expect a REmake clone, but people seem to think 'the odd branching path', 'occasional exploration' and 'a couple of puzzles my five year old can't beat' somehow equate to me being a massively unreasonable dick who demands they just port REmake with different skins forever. I don't really think I'm being that unreasonable, and for me that was a big part of what the older games were (except the puzzles - they were piss easy). Yes, I know you had to progress in a certain order, but at least you had a little choice as to which way you went.
Of course, RE6 could include these things and I haven't seen them. Which would be cool. But so far it looks like a somewhat improved RE5. More horror in the enemies and better atmosphere in some of the sections...but more Michael Bay level explosions, stringed together quick time events and motorbike chase scenes (yes, I have a special hate for the motorbike and snowmobile scenes) as well, and frankly, there are better action games out there than this.

Im with Darkmoon, I think the gameplay looks like a race to kill as many zombies as possible. I played a million games like this its no different from your run of the mill shooter. How on earth is this better than RE5? Seriously? Someone tell me? The pace is shite, the graphics are dull and boring, the story is pretty good but thats where it ends for me. Chris's demo looks like a cross between Army of Two and Kane and Lynch to me, if you are happy with RE becoming that then good for you but they both seemed like average games to me. Congrats! you have gone from the best horror game to an average shooter.

Oh man, drunk Chris is the best Chris. But I can't tell what's on his necklace? Looks like a coin to me, not a ring. But OMG I want it to be a ring SO BAD.
Also, for those who are talking about the environments looking "bland": I was recently in northeastern Europe and I can assure you that the environments are accurate. I can post some pics if people are interested.

Another nod to Dead space perhaps.sigpic
