        Can you? I was playing with a friend and he was Helena. He told me he literally couldn't do anything but him exaggerating is nothing new, especially with RE6. Good to know though.

          • Lag in this game can be a bitch for pulling off counters. I did a successful counter against a zombie, heard the confirmation sound effect and still got bit. I felt risky and tried again with a Bloodshot and I died. I'm never gonna be doing counters against fast attacks again unless I'm in a game with a three green bars connection (I was in a game with two bars). Too risky.

              It wasn't Bond who they were trying to ape. It was Jason Bourne.

              I never really saw Bond as being very acrobatic. He came close to that in Casino Royale. But he came up short against that parkour expert. Bourne was a lot more nimble. And I think I read that they had based Leon on that guy.

                    Did Mikami come up with RE4's plot? In any case, Mikami is not exactly young and his influences could go further back than Die Hard. Maybe something he read in a book.

                      I get that a lot, with three green bars sometimes it just starts lagging, usually when more enemies turn up. Jumping zombies are the worst, counter them all the time but still get bit. Often zombies that have had heads blown off still grab me too.

                          Glad to know it's not just happening to me because of my crappy ISP. Next time I'll just be sure to have a plenty amount of health before I try countering the attacks that are prone to shitting out because of lag. I almost always never use a tablet, unless my stamina gauge is running low. Big mistake.

                            Just to get this out of the way, Casino Royale (or anything past it) has to stay aside when referring to Bond, since that movie came out after RE4 and obviously could not be an influence on the game.

                            Now, the only thing Leon had similar to Jason Bourne is that he was also a pro when it comes to close quarters combat.
                            But even that is a pretty far cry from what we see in RE4 in terms of substance over style.
                            Jason Bourne's fights are quick, realistic and ruthless. The purpose of his fights are to survive, while Bond fights to impress the audience.Bourne's actions are first and foremost are practical, while Bond's are to look cool/to be on the edge/to pull of an impossible stunt. Bourne is substance, Bond is style, RE4 is style and thus RE4 is Bond.

                            Bond is a secret agent who sneaks onto enemy bases, while Bourne is a secret agent who is trying to survive as the world turns against him. In RE4 Leon was basically a secret agent sneaking onto enemy base.
                            Bond is always barely escaping from near death traps in some elegant way, his success is mostly based on improvisation and luck rather than specific training for such situation, while Bourne uses skills that are already deep inside of him through extensive training. Of course his actions involve improvisation too, but at least the roots of it are traceable and it is believable that he can adopt to certain situations so quick.
                            In RE4 Leon is escaping traps all the time and his skills are just popping out of nowhere as the situations are presenting themselves.

                            All in all, RE4 stepped away from survival horror formula by making the main hero an overpowered, prepared and trained agent who goes on a mission and saves the world. And that's something that Bond does.

One of the most important aspects about 24 is the format how it presents itself to a viewer - we see the course of events unfolds simultaneously and from multiple points of view because there are several main characters. RE4 is nothing like that and I'd say RE6 is more suitable to fit this category.

                            An action-packed blockbuster - yes, but a Die Hard's plot being similar, hmm not so much. Once again I see saving the president's daughter, a woman over the radio, and a mysterious female ally as a Bond reference. They pretty much surrounded Leon Bond Kennedy with Bond girls. A pimp must have his hoes.

                            And now that you mention Die Hard, it makes me wonder if the original movie from 87 had a closer premise to survival horror formula than RE4. The main guy from Die Hard finds himself in an unexpectedly hostile isolated environment, with overcoming odds hunting him down and no help should be expected from outside world.

                                Oh come on, an American super agent tasked to save the president's daughter with a twist that the kidnappers have a bigger plan is totally a 24 plot, all Leon needed to do was scream "Tell me where she, NOW!"
