  • 1.5 mention during interview?

Sorry if I'm making anyone go ''ugh'' with another 1.5 topic, I see that some people do, so, sorry in advance. A couple months ago, I tried making an account here for this topic but something went wrong, I guess, and I couldn't make it, so, again, sorry if I can't remember the specific dates. Aaaaaannnywho, my point being is that in either the Jan/Apr/Feb (2011) issues of Nintendo Power, they had one of their Power Profile interviews with someone working on Resident Evil 1.5, and I strongly believe this man to be Shinji Mikami, but again, I can't remember ; in this interview, the man stated that yes, of course there was a Resident Evil 2 before there was a Resident Evil 2, alluding to 1.5, and he also stated that progress on that was 85% before they scrapped it. No mention of why they scrapped it, which is usual with 1.5 talk.

What's been bugging me for the longest time is if any of this is true. I mean, couldn't Couldn't he have revealed that RE1.5 was closer to completion than most think? (Edit) Sorry, again, if I'm wasting anyone's time by making this thread.

Made up what? It's not exactly a revelation that pre-RE2 builds exist, and that it was scrapped at about 80%.

Ah, damn. I should've phrased that better. Couldn't he have revealed that RE1.5 was closer to completion than most think?

It has always been known that it was pretty complete. I think I've seen numbers in the 75-85% range mentioned a few times.

That makes much more sense, haha. I saw the number 75% as the cap off number a lot of times, and then when I saw 85%, I kind of flipped. Thanks!

I guess different developers have said different numbers. There's no automatic "completion meter" which says at all times how far they've come. "You are now 82.36% through the development process". That being said, 75% and 85% is a significant difference...
