  • Resident Evil 4 HD PS3 (Leftovers/Debug)

Hmm, anyone saw this on Unseen64 Forums?

The game contains the common "debug" folder which contains more files than usual.
It contains first of all the roominfo files from both Gamecube and PS2 versions of the game but surprisingly they don't match AT ALL with the ones on their retail versions.
The Gamecube contains all the ATARI and 3.5 names for rooms (same as E3 Preview version, later removed on retail version), obviously bored to remove them on this release.
The PS2 one seems to contain the ATARI testrooms, as far as I remember they are not referenced on the file inside the PS2 disc since they had no reason to include them.

    (...)

    And here's something hillarious!
Inside the gamedata you can find a Wii (LOL) folder, obviously containing the extra stuff from the Wii version. (But "Wii" on a PS3 console, I mean really?!)
An other thing that enforces my idea that is a cheap and lazy port from a debug Wii version of the game is that picture, you can force the game to show the extra menu with a savegame flaw/hack:
Hehe, does anyone else is working at it at the moment?
Props to Robert_Kendo, the german RE collector, and VIRGIN KLM from U64 forums!
Hail the heros of the revolution!

I know when I looked through the 360 files they were the exact samee, there is a Wii folder and images for the Wii menu when you press the Home button on your controller lol.
Apart from that, I have no idea how to activate debug or anything like that, I tried but nothing happened.
Funny stuff tbh, it proves how much of a shoddy port this was.

I dont get why proof of the other files is a shoddy port? Things are left behind in tons of games. Configuration files for PS3 versions of games that never get PS3 versions. Other assets. That sort of thing. It is all quite common really. Easier to leave it in.

Well, people simply don't realize that those so-called "HD" versions of games are simply cash-ins on older, dust-collecting source and assets of those past generation games. I'm okay with it, I only played Splinter Cell Chaos Theory on a PS2 (why, sony...) and now I enjoyed the trilogy in full hd and without cut content (shame on you ps2 ), even though they are shoddy ports.

That guy on Resident Evil 4 says that a full debug menu can be found, so it's just more profit for us fans that they kept Wii junk on our PS3 copies. Just wishing that I had jailbroken my ps3 to play with debug stuff too.
        lol

I admit I had to laugh when I saw the "discovery" of a font table

If memory serves me right and the PS3/360 versions still retains the same core structure/behavior as their Wii/GC/PS2 counterparts, activating their debug functionality should be no harder than just adding the appropriate lines to the CAPCOM.INI/CONFIX.TXT (or whatever the heck those ini files in those games was called).

And, yeah, it's always funny listening to the non-tech savvy talk about what's supposedly signs of a shoddy port and what's not
(It's kinda like listening to kids pretending to be characters from their favorite saturday morning show. At first it's kinda cute how they interpret the characters, but when you realize that they're not longer kids and actually well into their teens... it kinda gets a little embarassing...)

            lol
Almost everyone realizes that the ports aren't remakes. The only proof the person has found so far is the debug text, and some menus from other versions of the game. The debug text is just a font. It is still in a lot of games because, like I said, it causes less issues by simply leaving it in. It is entirely possible that Capcom disabled the debug functions in the eboot entirely, or, as Carn said, it is just a simple configuration file. Although I'd wager, if it was a simple configuration file, someone would have actually enabled the menu by now.

there is a config.ini inside the Debug folder last time i checked "when i was on Jail break"

Since now i updated my Console , no chance left untill a new exploit us found , thats how it goes with me ...

Edit : Oh look at this !

              dbioport\PS3\bio4PS3\src\main.cpp.cellNetCtlInit() failed. ret = 0x%08x...........%s(%d)..operator new....d:/bioport/PS3/bio4PS3/src/main_mem.cpp.operator new...ERROR

found it inside the ELF ....

Get inside their PC's and steal this xD !

Its just a small part of the source code. That sort of thing is left behind a lot as well.
