I would love a remake of RE2 and RE3 (in one massive game since all those stories happen at the same time), and one of Code Veronica would be pretty cool, too. However, I would want them in the old style, and we all know that Capcom would never do that. It's 2012, and that's simply too big of a risk for them. If they ever did even consider doing a remake of any of the classic games, they would probably just ruin it with the new style of gameplay. Ever wanted to see Claire double flip-kicking a T-103? What about Jill's adventures in Raccoon with Carlos as a forced AI partner for the whole game? Well if they make a remake of RE2 or RE3, you'll be able to.
      Mass production? Ridiculous!

I wholeheartedly disagree. Personally for me there's absolutely nothing wrong with Resident Evil 2 or 3 at all, they are cracking games containing some still very impressive jump scares that you often forget about, great gameplay (the original by comparison was always a bit clunky - one of the reasons it made sense for a remake). What's more the games still look pretty good, Resident Evil 2 + 3 on the Dreamcast for example are really good looking game because their art style was strong and the limitations of the tech allowed them to create to wonderful settings.

CODE: Veronica by comparison does look ropey, but the recent HD version (videos aside) goes a long way in making the game fresh. The new lighting gives the game an entirely new atmosphere.

Plus factor into it development time, which is a good deal of time lost for potentially new titles for the series.

Survivor I could get behind a little, because that game was nerfed from the minute it was thought upon, and the final execution wasn't good, as much as I can enjoy it.

Outbreak too, would benefit from a HD Revival pack, designed for PSN and LIVE, allowing the masses to finally appreciate these titles (I for one never got chance to play either of them online)

No. I am not having Leon as a super hero heart punching Birkin to death, Claire snapping Mr X's neck with a giant tit bounce and Sherry getting a gattling gun. I don't trust Capcom to a Remake like...well, Remake anymore. 2 and 3 need leaving alone.

No more remakes move forward in the story not backwards.

Yes, but imagine if they had remade RE2 just after they remade RE1, in the same style. THAT would have been something.

While they don't need a remake, it'd be cool to see RE2 and RE3 with updated graphics with maybe areas added from unused concepts like they did with REmake. But it's hard to trust Capcom not to fuck it up.

If they had (or would now) it would be awesome, and I'd love to see some of the additions they might have added. As it is...

With the direction the series has taken with RE4 and RE5, I don't trust Capcom to remake RE2 and 3.
Although I did enjoy the RE2 parts of DSC - but I think the gameplay limitations of that game meant it couldn't be too over the top.

Do people want remakes because they think if Capcom did one it would be in the old fixed camera tank control style? Because it wouldn't.

RE2make would've worked before RE4 came out, but since the series has become a third-person shooter...no. Just leave the classics alone.

It's not even the same staff which worked on REmake who work for Capcom now so a remake would be pointless as the game would be over the shoulder. Don't get me wrong, I loved the REmake. It's one of my personal favorites. Everything about it was awesome. I wish they had remade RE2,RE3, and RECV but they wanted to get 4 out. I cannot see how RE2 over the shoulder would be scary or even fun. The whole point of the classic series was going back and forth with puzzles which hardly is around anymore in the current generation.

As others had stated, no to a remake. With the current staff working for Capcom and their current view on western gamers and gun-ho action, they would tarnish the game. The classics still hold up. Now Outbreak is different but that's another discussion....

Just be glad that you grew up with those types of games.

No - I wouldn't of wanted a remake of the 2nd game straight after the remake either. Resident Evil 2 is absolutely PERFECT as it is, one of the shining gems of the video game industry. Remake and such are my favourites, but how good Resident Evil 2 is is absolutely undenyable. After the REmake, if you wanted any example of the series to showcase how awesome it was, I'd still use Resident Evil 2 to this day. It was the first game that made me believe we can have really amazing storytelling in games.

I always preferred the original to Resident Evil 2, but like I say there were/are aspects of it that don't quite hold up today as well as they perhaps should, often down to the not quite outstanding hit detection on monsters, to the backgrounds that really don't hold up if you scrutinise them. Resident Evil 2 + 3's background visuals are just as good today as they were when it was made. A fabulous looking game.

I dunno - I see where you are coming from folks, but I really don't agree. I'm of the crowd that loathes the idea of remakes or tweaking stuff years later. Though I love the REmake, and I think it's the untouchable high point of the series, and wouldn't be without now - I'd imagine i'd say exactly the same about that not needing to be remade, what I've typed above is justifying the notion of the remake to myself.
