    • Excella is exceptionally dead, pretty much leaving Ada.

From what I gather in the report, the GPC is benevolent and has no knowledge of Jessica or Tricell's activities. Jessica uploads her interview with the "special investigator" of the GPC to Tricell along with several of her reports on the FBC, Umbrella, t-Virus, t-Abyss etc. So it can't be Excella, despite her being very much alive in 2005.

The GPC has been long theorized to be the organization Ada belongs to. Whether or not it is the "rival company" that Ada and Wesker belonged to in 1998 is unknown. Doesn't seem to match; a benevolent organization producing and selling bioweapons which they actually attempt to wipe out completely.

Tricell moved into the bioweapons business in 2003 thanks to Wesker, and were collecting any viruses they did not obtain from Wesker (who provided the t-virus and t-Veronica).

        • It's not a pretty big deal in terms of Revelations. It's left open for some other game to handle. Might be RE6. Might not. But hey, at least this piece of outside material will keep your brain tinkering in the meantime just to find out.

          • So if the investigator isn't Excella nor Ada. Who she might be. Some we know... Sherry? Doubtful. Rebecca? Doubtful. Any from female Outbreak characters? Doubtful. Are there any other female characters we know they are alive in 2005 but we don't know what they're doing?

            • It's nothing but a nod at this rate till something comes into play to show Tricell has another role to play after RE5. All the speculation is just a waste till then.

You make it sound like they're making it up as they go along, haha.

BHREV, BH6 and Marhawa Desire were written at the same time. Not inconceivable to think that there is some link between all three. We've got Jessica and Raymond in BHREV, hooded woman in MD, and who the fuck knows in BH6.

                • There might be. There might not. I can tell you that with enough scrapped material it's clear that this series has enough re-writes and changes to point out that yes, there's reason to believe they are making this series up as they go. Even if they find a connection to something left open, it doesn't always mean that it was planned to be that way from the get go.

                  • Outside of BH4, there haven't really been that many re-writes or complete changes in terms of storylines. And BH4's situation was influenced more by company sales figures, not because they were unsatisfied with the story. All other BH games have been pretty consistent from the beginning in terms of plot. The storylines are finalized pretty early in development, so its doubtful they would make it up as they go along with three products in development at the same time.

However, I do think that Jessica's Report and the whole triple agent business were last-minute additions to BHREV. Likely to connect it to BH6 and MD, because otherwise, it's stand-alone.

I dunno about that. There was a pretty big change between 1.5's known plot (that Umbrella had mostly collapsed in the aftermath of the Spencer Estate) and RE2's (Umbrella is untouchable until they wipe out a whole city) although given how RE4 turned out it's not exactly hard to re-write events so 1.5 is canon. It's mostly dialogue changes about Umbrella's status.

Still, it's a big enough change that I'm not sure they had the plot locked it at that point, and I suspect RE4's 'Umbrella's gone, lol' intro was at least partially because they weren't confident it's fall was worth a main game (or they hadn't worked out how to make it so the players could be responsible without making Resident Evil: Ace Attorney).

                      • 1.5's plot was locked down and solid... they just weren't happy with it. They were initially going to keep it, and just have Noboru Sugimura review it. It was only scrapped because he happened to suggest that they start over, although all of the core elements were kept. The changes were pretty small in retrospect. On the other hand, BH4 was scrapped completely, several times. The only thing that was consistent was Leon.

                        • Core elements factoring game play or just story, cause from what I've heard about 1.5 the plot and some of those characters were re-written with major changes in mind including role reversal and character elimination/addition.

                          • Just coming towards the end of my second playthrough. Playtime has changed sort of the same as RE5 did. First playthrough took me around 8-10 hours and now this time Il have finished it in 4 hours. It does seem abit longer than RE5 but not by a whole lot. I may try a speedrun soon and see how quickly this game can be finished. Still really like this game think its better than some of the main series titles. I would love to see it ported to PS3 someday that would be amazing but wont get my hopes up like I did with Remake.

I am considering buying Mercenaries now can anyone tell me is it worth it? I know theres no story so is there anything that makes you want to keep playing it? Like a points or upgrade system? I dont know wether to try and pick it up now for £10-15 on Ebay or wait untill its even cheaper.

                            • Some unused and scrapped ideas are discussed here.

Interestingly, Revelations was apparently originally going to be co-op.

                              • "We had online co-op for the story campaign up and running in the early stages of development, but feedback from testing indicated that single-player Resident Evil was scarier, so we left it out and focused our attention on improving the single-player survival horror experience."
Wow, they actually listened! Hopefully this will influence more single-player-only RE campaigns.
                                Mass production? Ridiculous!
