Man this game was sexy or what?
Capcom really took a hint from modern "horror" games such as Dead Space and Alan Wake... The section with the comms officer was fantastic. And I admit that Rachel was a great addition in the end, loved to see an enemy in the tradition of Nemesis and Lisa Trevor.
Speaking of Trevor, I laughed when I saw the document that explains Zenobia's design... At least it didn't had the overused main hall once again; oh and "Paragüas"? Seriously? Umbrella couldn't be more obvious LOL.
Norman was a nice boss fight. He was the son of a tyrant & Magician (HoTD), but it was really good.
I hope RE6 is as good as this game, I think Capcom nailed it with Revelations and seems to be a step in the right direction.Last edited by Beanovsky Durst; 02-08-2012, 08:09 AM.

Took the day off of work yesterday to plow through it, and I loved it. As many have said, the balance of slow paced, horror-driven exploration and action-packed set pieces/boss fights was excellent, the length was perfect, and the design of the visuals and the soundtrack was superb. I loved getting a better look at the BSAA, and the character interaction in the game was surprisingly great. It's the first game where Jill and Chris are partnered up and it doesn't feel fan-serviced or played up like "oh hey, it's Chris and Jill whooo!" The writing and behavior between them was far more natural and compelling. Hell, in spite of some unnecessary complications and potential plot holes, the story was decently fun and engaging too. What shocked me most was how much I loved Parker. What a great character. I'd love for him to return, but as is the case with RE supporting cast members, I'm not holding my breath.
And hot damn, Raid Mode is so wonderful and addictive. I'd love for a spin-off designed entirely around this mode, as I can see myself dedicating more hours into Raid Mode than the Campaign itself. At the very least, I'm dying for a Revelations 2, regardless of what system it's for. This game was the reason I bought a 3DS and it was soooo worth it.Last edited by LVL100 Merchant; 02-08-2012, 03:43 PM.

Was anyone surprised by how different the demo was from the actual game? When I saw the cutscene where Jill wakes up on the bed, I skipped it and thought "Pshh.. Okay, this will be easy. 'Played through this 1000 times!" Then I saw the T.V in the room and thought "Oh.. Oh, no.." Ha! Pulled a fast one on us, didn't they? I loved the first boss. He was both creepy and challenging. What a tense battle too, especially with all the regular enemies after you!
Enjoying the game immensely, have not beat it yet. What Raid Mode level are all you guys by now? 100? Haha! XD

It's what Mercs 3D should have been.

Never gonna happen, but that would be the best game ever swear. <3

I still really want a full-fledged Mercenaries game on consoles, with a shit-ton of levels, characters, weapons and enemies. Mercenaries 3D on a handheld was a cop-out. Even if it was just a downloadable PSN/XBL title, I think it'd be very successful if they truly went all out with it.

Raid mode quickly runs its course, due to no leaderboards, time score or anything of the sort once you S rank all stages and hit top rank (which you'll almost be at playing every stage just once) there is nothing to do. I get S rank for every stage except one the first time.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

If Operation Raccoon City sells well, I bet they'll expand the character and level selection with DLC. So, it's almost like a console Mercs/Raid game? Or at least a step in the same direction.
I've never gotten bored with any Mercs game, especially RE4's on the Wii. Leaderboards don't mean much to me because I'm not too competitive a person.. I think I'll have hours of fun playing online with Raid Mode, even after I "S" rank all the levels.

Just finished the game, and wow... this makes RE5 look even more like a giant turd. What a great game. The pacing was excellent (although the action bits trumped the horror ones for much of the second half), the characters were (mostly) interesting, and the locations were all well-designed and fun to explore (except for the boring-as-hell rail shooter segments that should never be in any RE game).
As for the characters, I thought Parker was a fantastic addition to the RE universe, and probably my favorite character in the game (yep, more so than Chris or Jill). It was nice to see a realistic character for a change; same goes with O'Brian. I liked Raymond, although he would have been better if his hair didn't have that ridiculous swoop thing going on. Seriously, Capcom, no one looks like that in the real world.
Going into the game with nothing but the trailers, I thought for sure that Quint and Keith would annoy me to no end, but they actually didn't. Although Quint had moments where he bordered on obnoxious, I'm glad the game tried to have a bit of humor to it; if not, we would have been left with a boring-as-hell RE5-type story. RE games in the past had humorous characters (Barry, Carlos, and Luis come to mind), and no one seemed to mind them. In Revelations, it's the interaction between the two that I think makes the story a bit more realistic. I do feel that at least one of them should have died, however; this game suffered from the "none of the good guys dying" syndrome that made it feel a bit unrealistic. Parker was the most obvious example.
There were a few characters who I didn't like, though. Rachael is obvious, but since the game never really focused on her much, it wasn't as bad as that promotional trailer with her exploring the ship. But Jessica... oh man, just when I thought that Capcom pulled Irving and Excella out of the bottom of the character barrel, Jessica comes along. Worst character in a canon RE game, hands down. If her overly sexual design wasn't enough (how many times did we have to see the camera pan up her leg or onto her ass?), her dialogue and voice acting was atrocious. Like original RE bad. Remember "See, this is why I like chihuahuas," or "You still owe me dinner, and I'm ordering lobster," or "No thanks, I don't date cannibal monsters?" Whether they were lines that were lost in translation or not, her character was simply terrible. I was sad not to see her perish somehow.
As for the others, with Landsdale it was refreshing to see a main villain who didn't mutate and had to be stopped by a rocket launcher; he was just arrested and taken away. I liked it, since it's more realistic. And I loved the Norman battle (especially the creature's design). I liked that he was the game's final boss, as opposed to the giant creature that engulfed the Zenobia.
What was with the scene after the credits, anyway? Raymond just casually walks up to Jessica in a crowded cafe and plops a virus sample down on the table? How inconspicuous. I also got the faintest hint that they were setting those two up to be the next Wesker and Ada. But maybe not; I doubt that they'll use any of the new characters in Revelations again since most of the RE fan base won't even play the game.
As for the layout of the story, I liked the episodic format. However, I feel that some of the "cliffhangers" were overdone to the point that it literally screwed up the story. For example, why did Raymond shoot at Parker on the bridge? Why did Jessica shoot at Raymond (again) on the bridge near the end of the game? How did she know that Parker would jump in front of him? I feel that the writers were so concerned with Shyamalan-style "twists" that they shot themselves in the foot a little bit.Mass production? Ridiculous!

Well, I'll join the camp of people who consider this the best title since REmake (unless the specificity of that opinion is only Zombie Fred's). Unlike RE4, it incorporates the action sequences when necessary and it doesn't drag near as much in portions. I don't need to get into how RE5 can't carry this game's dick. Bravo, Capcom...now improve the character designs a little. I enjoyed every character from the bit parts (yes, Quint and Keith- I marked out for the Thing reference) to the more major players.
Plus, good call Beanovsky. I saw the Dead Space elements right away, that interview Kawata did (was it Kawata?) where he said the devs feel upstaged by Dead Space was quite telling apparently.
