  • As you can see, the anti-Jill fanboys are as rabid as the ones they love to mock.

Walls of texts made to justify their irrational distaste for a fictional character. Notice how they get just as emotional about the character.

    Funny, eh?

      • That's a good laugh, Pikminister. If deducing that the developers found no reason to give her any interesting non-physical traits makes me an anti-Jill fanboy, so be it. There's no "irrational distaste" on my end; she's just a boring character. Nothing more to it.

        Mass production? Ridiculous!

        • I think the fact that this "discussion" is rehashed at least once a month on this site says a lot about both sides of the argument.

          • I never had an issue with Jill until I joined this site and experienced my first true taste of the Los Jilluminados. I give them credit, these Jill fanboys...they're eternally loyal, no matter how silly it gets. I started to resent Jill as a character, and then RE5 came out and totally butchered whatever she had going for her. It's kinda sad.

            • How did RE5 butchered Jill?

                • It's not that I don't disagree with you entirely Darkmoon, but it's not impossible to think that in the spur of the moment she grabbed her gun and didn't have much time to change.

Evidently Jill wasn't part of the RPD anymore when she resigned from STARS. Marvin did note they lost contact with them, and if I recall that was over ten days prior.

When we first are introduced to her she is leaping from an explosion. We're not entirely sure what happened but it just seems like the chaos became too much in that instant.

Regardless, using that attire as a reason to demean Jill's personality makes very little sense. The outfit was fanservice, but placed Jill in a situation where she had no proper affiliation with any special forces team at that point and she was dressed in a once casual environment. Every other game has her dressed for the mission in some manner.

See, the ones currently making a deal about Jill, are actually the ones who complain and bitch about her. And because it makes no damn difference that they dislike the character, they make sure to slip in an insult or two directed squarely to the gushers. It's called baiting. But you guys think that you're allowed to do it because apparently, you also feel that Jill fans deserve such disrespect. For not sharing your views on the character and having the audacity of actually writing about her in a non negative manner or yes, even when they get all mushy like you do with your favorite imaginary RE character.

The anti-Jill fanboy tag, well, I just put it out there just to see how you felt about being branded the same way you brand others here. Well... Did you like it?

Anyway, I'm done with this inane argument about characters and which ones are whores because of what they wear (that sure tells you something 'bout what these people think of women that wear skirts..or that don't wear a bee-keeper suit and dare to show skin) and which ones have/lack a personality.

I'll rather write here about Revelations.... BTW, I wrote this on my 3DS cuz my PC is busy at the moment. Defrag...

Ha, I don't really care what you decide to label me as.

I assumed I could discuss the details of the RE series (including characters, locations, enemies, etc.) with fellow RE fans, but I suppose I made a critical error in judgement. However, I do agree that we should discuss Revelations here (even though Jill is the star of that game). Perhaps someone else would be kind enough to start an anti-Jill thread that I will not bother to post in.

So how 'bout that Raymond, huh? Looks an awful lot like Conan O'Brien, yes siree...

She simply has no personality. She is focused on the mission 110% and could care less about anything else. That's it. There's no more detail than that. She is literally walking fan service. When the original RE1 was in development, I don't think the developers were all "Let's give Jill a lot of depth and personality so people will find her interesting." No, they simply wanted to do something different and offer an option to play as the "hot chick" in revolutionary (at the time) graphics. Thus Jill was born, the byproduct of pervy Japanese developers exploiting the "weaknesses" of the male gamer. She didn't need to have a personality because the developers knew that their key demographic would like her for simply being a young, attractive female.

Then RE2 came along and introduced several new female characters, all of which individually had more character than Jill ever could have hoped to have. RE2 did add a bit of tiny depth to Jill's character, though - we could now infer that she played guitar and probably had a boyfriend in 1998. Whoever wrote RE2 at least tried. But after that, it's back to the same lock-picking, generic female "soldier" type with a severe lack of humor.
I see, you failed to answer the question at all thus I will conclude you have no clue at all what personality is, or how to intentify it. There are plenty of examples, she is completely selfless for one, to the point she even sacrifices herself to save her partner. A very clear obvious personality trait that is thrown in your face, the fact you do not even acknowledge this one and just throw around empty negative claims tell me you can be nothing but a blind hater.

...and with that I see no point continuing this post on that subject, would surely be a waste of time and holds no interest or benefit to me.

On a seperate note I agree with Pikminister. Is very amusing all the hate Jill fans get when most of the cause of Jill related drama is the haters, either bashing Jills character or bashing the fans, often before they even comment. More often than not when a new piece of Jill info is being discussed such as her Revleations attire the first bunch of replies will be along the lines of "LAWL she a slut, Jill fans gonna go stupid over it" and anyone attempting to be reasonable and for example claim "She is on a boat and in swimwear, since she swims in the game, you can see breathing apparatus" is labled a blind Jill fanboy. The irony of it all is highly amusing.

So how about that story? Jessica Sherawat working for Tricell sure came out of the blue, huh?

                          • From up here on Mt Neutrality, honestly, both sides are nuts. And before someone yells at me that I hate Jill - I just think her RE3 costume is dumb as a post and makes the character seem stupid. Does that sound like someone who hates the character?

It has veered to a point where Jill hate is the 'norm' here, in the same way that bashing RE4 was the norm for a long time. And it's silly. Although for the record, I still hate RE4. Of course, a lot of it has come about because there were (and are) some fanatic Jill fans who turned every topic on the forum in the run up to RE5 about Jill, whether she was really dead, how it was the end of the series if she was (or if she wasn't and wasn't exactly how they wanted her) and how it sucked Sheva was there, not Jill.

In my opinion, both Jill and Chris didn't have much in way of personality beyond Basic Action Hero/Herorine to help serve as player avatars. Now that's no longer the norm they're beginning to be fleshed out, which is a good thing.

And I think both Jill Fanatics and Haters are frickin' nuts and strangely obssesed with Jill, just from opposite sides. You're all creepy and need to stay away from me and my favourite character. Whose way more awesome, by the way.

It's of minor concern in the long run if all we're going by is a visual on Jessica's Report. I like Jessica and Raymond when they were EVA and Ocelot anyway....

Tsukasa Takenaka, the most competent series writer, made it out to be a pretty big deal. The woman who interviews Jessica in her report is also of particular importance and is supposedly someone we know already.

The report itself happens right before she meets with Raymond to go over the mission, with the game itself taking place the next day.
