The motives behind it are irrelevant to the fact that these "simple changes" remove God out of the material it previously established in there.
I think you're just too quick to jump at the suggestion of censorship. I've yet to see any actual evidence.

"God's creation" appeared in a trailer and I'm pretty sure the original Japanese subtitles of the trailers in question actually said nature anyway. Even if they didn't originally say nature, why the fuck would they go out of their way to change such a pointless issue despite using the term "God" all over the place in the entire series? Your suggestion is stupid. Where was this "Oh my god" omission? That phrase has literally nothing to do with religion anyway. The motives are completely relevant as censorship in general is a motivated act.

There's no religious censorship in the series and religion has literally zero bearing on it, so why they would suddenly make a fuss about "God", a term they use quite liberally in the series in a non-religious context, is beyond me.

Again, it's not my place to speculate motives on why they did it. I'm just looking at the facts that changing and omitting 'God' from material that previously established it in there is a form of religious censorship. I'll leave the speculating and theorizing to you.

Only it isn't censorship. The only person speculating is you, dude.

Right, that's not speculating. They did censor God from the established material.

Sometime between Sept and November of 1999 Capcom enforced more self-censorship, because they actually cut a few things from international releases of RE3 over what appeared in the Sept release in Japan.

If Columbine was invovled in the Japanese decisions I'm not aware, it's always quite possible. I know it did directly impact on Survivor's release in the US but that was a US led choice because of the direct G-Con use (which led to it's removal and a lengthy release delay there - but oddly not in Europe where it was untouched).

What did happen regardless is that Capcom entirely had clear self censorship issues until 2002 when the CERO ratings system was finally decided on (and first started labelling in 2003). Japan had more issues with brutal violence for some reason (which is why death scenes Biohazard 2 were changed) but seemingly the only major change to CV that I can recall was the head pop's were removed (though the sound and the brain splatter stayed). The cosmetic clothing damage was also a possiblity but I figure it was dropped more due to technical reasons at the time.

Mrox - It's hard to say in a lot of ways what were some thing that was dropped from Biohazard 3, because early in 1999 numerous articles came out with reported events supposed to take place in the game that never did. I get the feeling that a lot more was planned for the game so anything is possible. Hopefully this interview that News Bot did will shed some more light on some of that.

                - Edit, staying out of the relgious debate!

                  Except... they didn't.

I actually agree with Smiley on the change to the trailer though. It looks very much removed to avoid courting any relgious implication because it seemingly blames a god for the creation of the enemies within and not just "nature".
Do we actually have screenshots of the two versions of the same trailer? As I recall, the phrases appeared in two separate trailers, which makes it completely understandable for them to be different, particularly considering they refer to the exact same thing.

You can point the "nu-uh" finger all you like. The evidence in the changes and omission is still there on the table.

Damn... too late on the edit.

I'll try find it. I'm fairly certain from memory it was the same trailer but altered, but my memory isn't always the most reliable. Give me a little bit of time.

Please provide screenshots of the two versions of the trailer.

And I'll ask again, where is this botched lip-sync "Oh my God" omission?

                          Here's the God's creation trailer

Ashley doesn't say "Oh my God"

Two trailers use "God's creation". I don't think there actually is one that says nature.

As for Ashley, where does she actually say "Oh my God"? Even in trailers she just says "What's going on!?"

There is. You need to be patient and hold back on your dismissal of the evidence until it comes through.

You should be able to provide the evidence to support your claims in the first place.
