In my case, I do miss many aspects of the older games and the music only enhances that more by reminding me of how special those games are to me, reviving some old memories held within in them that I'll never forget. That said, I was 10 years old in 1996 and the RE phenomenon had just begun, so it was a special time for any fan back then because you were stepping into the unknown and well, it was simply awesome. I don't think any new RE title, regardless of how good it may be, will touch my soul like those old games, especially since I was a bit traumatized by them being so young.

Still, whenever I began to lose faith in the series, a new classic such as the remake would come along. So, here I am, waiting for the next "classic" game. Some may spark the old flame, but none will ever burn as brightly as those first games for me, and I'm okay with that. The music in RE0-CV represent the majority of my favorite tracks. I was a little unimpressed with RE4 and RE5 but Revelations is astounding.

This pretty much sums up my feelings, too.

Oh, and Chris's Boob, you cannot possibly believe that characters like Enrico and Kenneth are deeper than Excella. I can't stand Excella, just like most of the characters exclusive to RE5, but her character was fleshed out. She had a back story, while most of the S.T.A.R.S. team did not. What can you honestly tell me about Enrico Marini? What made him tick? Why did he join S.T.A.R.S.? What were his motivations? What did he do before he came to Raccoon? Did he grow up in Raccoon? What were his parents like? You can't tell me any of that. All you can say for certain is that he was Bravo Team's Captain, somehow made his way to the Arklay mansion, and was killed by Wesker.

I'm not trying to be an ass. I greatly prefer the classic games in the series to the newer ones, possibly tenfold. But some of that is nostalgia, and I won't deny that. I prefer everyone on S.T.A.R.S. to Excella, even Kevin Dooley (the original B.O.W. snack). But most of those side characters simply lacked depth and existed solely for the purpose of becoming zombie food. They were there to make the player feel like they were vulnerable, and that everyone could die. The reason it worked better in RE0 and RE1 is because the player is more familiar with them (at least in appearance) than the no-name BSAA operatives who die in RE5.
      Mass production? Ridiculous!

The only thing I miss from the older games is the feeling of being vulnerable. In the most recents games, you're just an unstoppable superhero. Other than that, I don't think the old games were better.

To be quite honest I was being sarcastic in my original post then decided to keep up with it to see Smiley's responses. It's even implied when I say 'especially Kenneth' because he's dead before you even really get to see him. But I still think Excella is completely horribly designed.

And the soundtracks have changed as well. They're not that eerie anymore (at least in 5 it's meh, 4 can be argued, while Revelations is amazing).

Honestly, I wish that was the case. Either you were needling which is against the ToS, or you genuinely believed in those things based on nostalgia. No matter how you look at it, your topic is in a bit of a bind.

Lol at you two. Its like you have a history. Where you married once?

I love playing through the old games they are my favorite games of all time and I could sit and play through them over and over. I make a point at least once a year to go through them all in order from Zero up. I dont think the style of them would work nowadays though and be honest with the technology now and if the style was the same I think the older games would be looking pretty crappy right now and wouldnt be considered the classics they are. All great things must die to become immortal. To me these games are immortal and they should rest in peace lol. Pour a 40 out.

Normally I'd call you on that, but in this day and age with people marrying dolphins and mannequins it's not impossible to marry a fictional character's tit. That said, I'm already taken by another user on these forums.

Agreed. I don't feel sad when I play the old games. Nostalgic perhaps, it's been a while since I've started playing these games and I've enjoyed each one of them. I agree with CrimsonElder, the classics are what they are because we had to move on. So please don't ask for remakes, those would ruin our good memories

Not true. I don't get that with Revelations at all. With RE4 and RE5? Sure. But unless I'm playing Raid Mode with upgraded weapons, in Rev Jill doesn't feel invincible. Nor is she doing back-flips or punching boulders.

In RE4 I never felt that way until I reached certain events like the laser hall way and the added Separate Ways mini game. Up until that point you had enough restraints to keep a level of horror there. Ashley also presented a means to make you feel less invincible. Once you played as her you had to overcome obstacles as well without the overabundance of ammo and melee.

^ I really don't think it's going to. If anything, it might get ported to Vita. Although in all fairness, Capcom is worse than a prostitute when it comes to getting money however they can, so... maybe.

I feel sad when I listen to RE3's credits.
Oh Man, why couldn't RE be that way anymore?
