    Tomorrow.

There's an Uroboros creature, and a missile silo was to be featured somewhere in the castle. Main viruses were the G-Virus (which was also the main virus of the previous scenario with HUNK on a cruise ship) and Progenitor Virus (probably still called Clay Virus at the time). The story was meant to take place over several decades, with Tony (Dante) later appearing in rather noble clothes (which became Sparda's human appearance).

Did this earlier version had a connection to Birkin's plan of creating "G-humans"?

Hunk on a cruise ship? well there is Revelations early build right there I think or at least some of it, I find it amazing that Capcom can make great games by using ideas they had years before, I guess in a sense Capcom has always had a library of ideas to use.

It's not House of the Dead, that's for sure.

I'm actually pretty disappointed and feel a bit cheated. http://projectumbrella.net/forum/Ori...omment-1020493

Though you can essentially get an overview of most of the scenario now. Not a lot was changed in Devil May Cry aside from the change to the "demon" world-view, small changes to level design and enemy design, etc. The G-Virus and Progenitor Virus were the focus due to their superhuman-making abilities. A missile silo was featured, so perhaps the whole "spread the virus around the world to enhance humanity" isn't as new as we think from BH5. The final boss was a giant mutated chameleon named "Ouroboros/Uroboros". All of the enemies seen in DMC were in BH4 with only slight differences.

Tony (Dante) and Paul (Vergil) had a rivalry like in the final game, only it was about being the true successor to Spencer (although only from Paul's point of view). Spencer was over 100 years old and the old wrecked ship is evidently his. He was infected with the Progenitor Virus many years ago upon discovering it, giving him superhuman abilities. He then bio-engineered two sons with the virus. His boss form closely resembles the third form of "G", the mutated Wiliiam Birkin, so it is likely that he injected himself with the G-Virus at some point in the story. There was to be a time skip of several decades at some point in which Tony would appear in a much more refined, noble appearance (Sparda's human form incidentally).

There will be more in the actual article.

The story sounds pretty awful as a BIO game and didn't really fit with the series, so I'm glad it became what it did (thanks to Mikami). The same can be said for "Sengoku BIOHAZARD" that became Onimusha.

Yeah, as much as people say RE4 was a departure, the RE4 we ended up with was way better in terms of making sense in the universe.

I agree - it would been utter rubbish as a Resident Evil title. If scrapping that in favour of the Resident Evil 4 we actually got is Mikami's true last legacy on the series then so be it indeed.

Not to mention we would have never gotten the chance to see that totally awesome bomber jacket Leon wore. I loved that jacket... damn ganados...

Yet, sadly, Code: Veronica and its transition to Code: Veronica X somehow made the cut

I played CODE:Veronica X first so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I thought it was great.
