Maybe recently now that he has the money for it. But he's said in the past how much he looks up to Scott and Cameron. It shows in his sci-fi lineup. His take on the first RE movie was to not show the zombies until much later in the film because he was inspired by how long Alien dragged out before you saw the creature. And it was Cameron's push for the current age of 3D that made him want to use those same cameras when directing his future films.

Paul has done some extremely crappy work in his time but I also like how he handled some other material for example:

Mortal Kombat: Decent movie, infact one of the best game to movie adaptations yet.

Event Horizon: Great movie, nice scary moments.

Death Race: The first death race is a entertaining movie.

I think what has been Paul's downfall is he just does not get Resident Evil, he did not grasp it the same way he did with Mortal Kombat. I would go as far as to say I would like to see how Paul would handle a Dead Space movie. Even the best director's and writers have got those works that lack the quality from their other movies.

I've actually had a run in with Milla during my time working at the cinema. She's rude as fuck (and Loretta Devine ). Shame, because I really enjoyed her movie roles in Fifth Element and Zoolander. But now I'm just irritated at the sight of her. Wamp.

Has anyone ever asked Capcom or whoever worked on Resident Evil their opinion of Anderson's films? I've always been curious.

Yeah, I would love to know that too, especially from Mikami.

MK was co-written by Boon and Tobias as well as another screenwriter. Anderson was just the director.

Event Horizon...really is just an overrated sci-fi version of Hellraiser in space. It just wasn't as unique as propel make it out.

Depends who at Capcom and Constantin Films you'd be talking to. But either way I've never heard or read about them saying anything bad about each other's work. Can't imagine that would benefit their franchise. You can talk to the voice actors like DC Douglas or Alyson Court and they'll say that they love Milla and enjoy the films. When I interviewed Richard Waugh (Wesker: CVX, RE0, RE4) I found out he auditioned for a part in Resident Evil: Afterlife. I also remember Paul Anderson had talked about how he met with Mikami at one point to discuss his vision and claims he was supportive.

And Anderson didn't write it. Same deal as Mortal Kombat.

I know at least one person at CAPCOM responsible for the series said they wish they never agreed to having them made. But a lot of others are supportive, some because they genuinely enjoy them, some because they leak money.

Sometimes I really think just how much first two RE movies influenced the action oriented gameplay of RE4 (personally I found RE4 forgettable), since at first they didn't wanted to make it action oriented, and because of that their first vision of RE4 morphed into Devil May Cry. Apocalypse was released before RE4, and I am just highly speculating, but maybe it is possible that his harm even extended above the cinematic version of RE? I've always thought about this....

I wonder what would happen if this film bombed hard? Like real hard.

Be interesting to see what happens to the future of the films 'franchise'.

There is a difference between writing something, and then directing it on screen.

I came across something really weird. . .

Is that supposed to be apart of the 5th film, or. .what?

Didn't even realize this movie was coming out this year. Looked at the trailer they released earlier this year. . .what a heap of fucking shit. Anderson never ceases to amaze me. This is why hollywood is complete fucking dogshit these days.

I don't get it, not part of movies 1-4. 6 Months after the Hive? But Apocalypse had happened by then and Matt was already Nemesis/dead. What the hell?

Guys, that is the original ending to the first movie that was filmed and later cut out. You can watch it with Anderson's commentary on some versions of the film for DVD/Blu-Ray.

See, I actually own the original Resident Evil movie dvd(never saw it in theaters), and I don't believe it's on there, so I wasn't exactly sure where the footage came from.
