  • Resident Evil's Mysterious Mysteries...

As an RE fan, you've surely noticed certain things that.... just didn't seem to have an answer. Whether it be something in the background that seems to have some significance that is never explained, files that reference strange things, or items that seem to hold secret meaning that are never uncovered. This is the thread to ponder such things, to investigate and perhaps solve some of the deepest RE mysteries.

To kick this thing off, I present to you....

The Case of the Mysterious Item

If one goes tipping around alone in the Spencer mansion in the wee hours of the morning, they might stumble across an out of the way office containing numerous books regarding the peoples of the world... and if they are observant enough they may find a small, well used dog whistle amongst the shuffled papers inhabiting a small writing desk. Our mystery lies not within the dog whistle itself, but the small and crumpled note laid beneath it... And if one is able to read the faint scribblings in the waning glow of a dim light they will read...

Today, Sir Spencer told me to hide
something where no one could find it.

Well, I had this idea, I figured if I
could somehow have it protected by a
    dangerous animal, like the vicious
canine that lives here, no one would be
    able to get near it.

As far as I can tell, the mutt is always
    hanging around the second floor
balcony on the west side of the terrace,
and he ought to come running at the
    sound of a dog whistle.

This is where you come in. The thing
is, I reckon you're the only person that
can get near that damn dog without
    risking a serious mauling.

Which means only you can this
collar on him. The object Sir
    Spencer wants hidden is concealed
    inside.

You're the only person I can trust with
this. Of course you'll get something out
of it as well. Remember that certain
item that you've always wanted to get
    hold of?

Well, in exchange for your services, I
just might be able to get it for you.

This could work out well for both of
    us...
What was this item, so coveted, that it led a man to face down a raging beast in order to obtain it? We may never know. Both the author of the note and the infamous groundskeeper were long dead before anyone arrived to shed light on this mysterious item.

What are your speculations on this mysterious item? What Mysterious Mysteries do you have of your own? Let us know as we delve into these...

The fake key you use to replace the real key in the room where statues have spinning blades. You get it from the dog collar, I'd have thought this obvious.

.... Really? Perhaps you should read the story again. XD I'm referencing the item that is being offered in exchange for putting the key in the dog collar.

Can this include beta items? I think all unused beta items are mysterious.

Absolutely, anything with a mysterious nature is more than welcome here.

That's not really a mystery, it was just something the author said to convince the other guy to do it. No actual story to it.

This is supposed to be a fun thread, dude. Would you please not bring your "if it ain't mentioned twice in the games, it don't matter none" attitude in here and ruin for the others? Chill out, have some fun! Slip outside the boundaries of canon and LOSE YOURSELF IN THE WONDERMENT OF MYSTERY!!!!

Why do I need to chill out for giving you a straight answer? My mistake on not knowing it was meant to be a fool around thread, you should have stated that in the OP. Hence why two other members also addressed you as though you were posing a serious question.

It is a serious question. There is no proof as to what the item is, therefore we must speculate which can be fun. You disdain speculation in regards to RE and come in here with the mindset you always have; This is foolish. I must crush the enjoyment of others with the weight of proven fact. XD I can't count the times you've sabotaged a thread that way and it degenerated into a bitch fest between childish people and you. I don't want that here, so give us an outlandish theory as to what the item is, and I want it to be wild.

Epic. I poked around in the groundskeepers room and found a bunch of pills strewn across his nightstand. Perhaps it was something in regards to that?

I have no problem with speculation at all, actually. I have a problem with people being wrong, and stating it as fact. I have never "sabotaged" a thread just by providing correct information, that's the fault of ignorant people deciding facts don't mesh with their opinions. You didn't make the purpose of this topic clear in your first post, so I posted assuming you were looking for a genuine answer rather than baseless speculation. That's all.

In hacked versions of the Biohazard 2 Trial Edition you can find a watch which is a beta item from 1.5, I have no idea what this item was used for but I'm very curious to find out. Also the chain and TV remote from Biohazard 3 Trial Version get my curiosity as well. These are probably the most unique and interesting beta items from RE games I think, there's lots of unused keys and emblems, you also have the wood and pick axe from Biohazard 1 as well, but they leave a lot more to the imagination as to what they were used for as opposed to these.

lol a TV remote? That's weird... I literally have no clue what that could be used for in the context of RE3.
