Resident Evil 1.5 - Where would it come from, where would it go?

I'm not one to make threads, but recent threadage and pondering on people's behavior and expectations made me wonder about something;

Imagine the scenario that Resident Evil 1.5 came out and answer these questions. This is an attempt at a serious discussion on the subject, so no "HELL YES!!!11!!"-esque answers;


1. Where'd come from?
-Who released it?
-A site? A person? A team?
-Small community or major site?

2. How'd it come out?
-Accidental leak?
-Official release?
-Delivery by mail?

3. What would it ultimately be like?
-Disappointing?
-A dream come true?
-Nothing like you imagined?

1: A fan that gets the rightful communication and not these stupid people putting fear into the person with the build.

3: We got Resident Evil 2 from the main man himself for a reason, but some people will like it for what it is.

1) A person or a team. You have to buy and/or persuade the owner to release the game. The game probably won't come from the RE community, people tend to be agressive when it comes to rare stuff (show me total proof nao!).

2) Official release. I don't see an accidental leak happening.

For 3:

Disappointing. Very disappointing.

I think I agree. Everyone holds 1.5 as the holy grail of RE. I don't think an unfinished, scrapped game will be better than the official RE2.

1. Where'd come from?
In this regard, there are two major scenarios;

Scenario A:
Eventually a community (or perhaps an individual) gathered the funds to mount an expedition to Japan in order to search for a beta release of
1.5 locked away somewhere in someones personal collection or some such. In reality there would be a very slim chance of any of this happening
to begin with, and even if it did, the odds of finding a copy would be pretty slim. If they did find it, the community would probably devour itself
in the days leading up to the release.

Scenario B:
Someone in the RE community here in the West with a copy of 1.5 would eventually release/sell the copy to the highest bidder... Assuming someone
didn't threaten to rape/murder/hex them if they refused to release it early.

2. How'd it come out?

Out of the scenarios I see as possible, both will probably end up as official release. Accidental leak would entail that someone over at Capcom gave a
shit about RE1.5 and the public's desire for it, which hasn't happened in thirteen years and is unlikely to happen any time soon.

3. What would it ultimately be like?

People would realize the following, in this order...

1: Oh, shit. It's not even complete. :S
2: Still has hideous tank controls.
3: Elza walker is just another character.
4: Wow, all of these cool events mean shit in the canon of RE these days.
5: All in all, this game is damn near the same to the one we got...
6: This isn't the Super Uber Golden Treasure of the Gods I thought it was going to be.

Where would it come from? I make it a habit not to ask that question in my own pursuits of games

If it ever comes out, it will be because someone wants it to be there. If it was going to just leak, I don't see why they would do it now. I guess it is possible but who knows.

And how will it be looked at? Hardcore fans will like to have something. But if it is anything like my Battlefront 3 videos, people won't read, they will expect a full game, call it fake, say it is a mod, say how terrible it looks, and yet still want to hand over piles of cash that they claim to have but never actually do it.

If it would come from anyone, it wouldn't come from CAPCOM or some collector's guy. Maybe it would come from someone of this forum, some 1.5 dedicated-for-life guy or something. And giving the engines and extra scenarios in trailers, I pretty much doubt I would disappoint myself with this.

Honestly, I think its very liable that there will be a release by either a release-group or by a donation fund like the GBC beta.

Yeah, I believe it'd either be an official release through a tremendous new section on x site or a donation pulled together to acquire the game and the game will be released on the internets.

Honestly? Who exactly is expecting this game to be awe-inspiring and amazing. I will be excited to analyze it and play the game but when you expect it to be better than the final product wishful thinking comes into it; the new features they added that elevated the action seemed like a good idea for me, but is the execution good? We can't say. How was the story? I don't think it'll be as holy received if released, I mean come on - Resident Evil 2 is easily the best game in the series and as today, stands out as an amazing game - but I do believe that everyone will rejoice in the effort and the amount of time spent to release the game...

...Then they shall search for the final version!...

Haha, seriously, it would be an team (The Honorable Internet Associates comes to mind, seriously they are investing a lot of time and resources in RE betas, you know it if you read this forum often), in a Anniversary-like package with other RE beta goodies.

And you would count with your fingers how many people would play the game, much less complete it (I only remember I + less than 10 members posting and playing trying to get to the end of RE GBC without cheats in Assemblergames...), everyone will expect that "60% complete" will equal "retail game with minor visual glitches" (remember the "80% complete" gross exageration on the GBC beta? Imagine how BUGGY and INCOMPLETE it will be), it will dissapoint most of them.

Depends...are we talking about the Curator build or the final build? Because I suspect they'd get two very different reactions. People probably aren't gonna be too impressed with the Curator version, but the Inflames one was fairly close to done.

No, but many years ago he got exclusive images and videos of the final build. Someone was going to simply give it to him, having seen Bioflames, but suddenly and for reasons unknown vanished. Sadly that's the one and only time the final version has been seen around, so...
