  • Biohazard 2 Beta 2 11C OMAKE OKUJYOU

    So in beta 2 if you use the JUMP feature and go to room 11C you'll see quite possibly the strangest thing in this beta, a 3D model of a helicopter. Does anyone know why this is even there? I have absolutely no memory of an actual model of a helicopter in BH2 what so ever. This room is really strange, the perspective is messed up but the boundaries are there and all the doors are connected to where they're supposed to be, however the switch to the water tower does not work. But you just have this helicopter sitting there with its blades spinning away, I can't begin to think of where they might possibly have used this model and why. Anyone got any ideas?

    Going off the top of my head on what it looks like again, maybe they were originally going to do an in-engine cutscene end for 4th Survivor?

    Since you see HUNK out on the rooftop for a second, making a motion (makes it look like this scene was supposed to be longer) and his results image is in a helicopter, you can see another one behind in the background as well.

      The "Omake" in the room name translates to "extra/bonus". Most likely, this is supposed to be the roof used in the ending of the 4th Survivor (the "omake"/minigame in RE2).

        Not to start anything but ... there are rumours it's a remnant from 1.5, apparently from the introductory scene with Leon, either hailing a helicopter (that never acknowledges him) or from the helicopter taking off at some point during the game.

        But yes, as has been mentioned, it is never seen inside the normal Resident Evil 2 game. It is seen briefly as hailed by Hunk/Tofu in the extra mini-scenarios. Seems like a LOT of extra work for that one short snippet.

              Sorry man, I don't have a computer atm! I tried getting a crappy picture off my iPhone but I'm stuck trying to get it uploaded somewhere which will give me a direct link, if someone hasn't posted an image by tomorrow I'll try again then, too tired now!

              I guess that's problem solved then. So, assuming Capcom were already working on Hunk's mission at this point, is there any data from this scenario actually on the disk? I.e. Hunk's model, animations, RDT data, etc? I do know Capcom worked on different scenarios side by side as the game was being developed (seems a really complicated way to do things!), even the Trial Edition has parts of the rookie scenario in the game (all you have to do is teleport to the other side of the streets and the Trial Edition turns into the rookie scenario), if Capcom already had Hunk's ending figured out, isn't it possible there might be more of it hidden away somewhere in there?

                Hunk is playable in this build, but his coding is kind of incomplete, he is unable to wield any weapons except for the default handgun.
                Equipping other weapons results in messed up animations and usually crashes the game when you try to fire them.

                The actual 4rd Survivor mode is not included on the disc, though.
                Or if it is, it is definitely not accessible in the game.

                There is no coding for the main menu of the minigame whatsoever...

                  Interesting, that does not surprise me! What I'm curious about is whether his enemy placements are hidden somewhere in beta 2. In the Trial Edition there exists multiple behaviours for some rooms, for example in the west corridor both the zombies arms and the zombies who jump through the windows exist in the game even though there's only one intended scenario. Perhaps the same is for Hunk in beta 2, perhaps the enemies Hunk encounters are there along with scenario A and scenario B even though we're not intended to play it.

                    There is an un-complete cut-scene Area of Hunk's Ending , where there is a chopper behind infront of the BG ... so yeah.

                      Even if this was "one intended scenario" as I said, it may have just been the programmers playing with different events, before deciding on one, or, as happened in the final game, sometimes when you trace back from rooms you've already visited, enemies may emerge in new ways (usually through the windows).

                        What I'm getting at is that there might be beta enemy placements from unused sections of the 4th Survivor hidden within room data, such as Crows in the basement, or Ivy in the West Corridor. They were clearly working on it at the time of beta 2, who knows what they might have intended but never used.

                          there are unused backgrounds in roomcut.bin that were for a helicopter scene.

                            Just to clarify the reason of this topic, yesterday I was looking at the script of this room and there are no events, so not wait for the helicopter fly off or something. Haha.

                              Yeah I imagined that one was a long shot! What about other rooms though? Are there enemies in rooms that were intended for Hunk to encounter in his scenario?
