One thing to note is that Just Cause Productions weren't involved with any other game in which Leon or Benford appear. The buddy relationship is more than likely completely fabricated just like Wesker's history in RE5.

Originally posted by News Bot View PostThe "friendship" between Benford and Leon is only in the English dialogue, so far. In Japanese, he just thanks Leon for his cooperation. No "I've always valued your friendship". Him being jaded makes more sense since they forced him to work for them in exchange for the safety of Sherry, who they took as a hostage. The implication that Leon became best buds with the same asshole who did that to him is pretty suspect.Last edited by Archelon; 09-16-2012, 03:44 PM.

Spoiler:
Leon comes across as pretty cynical and jaded regarding the US government and even the president himself. Hunnigan corrects him, saying the president didn't know anything about any of this, but Leon doesn't seem too convinced. He's evidently made peace with it by the time of Resident Evil 6, though, if his conversation with Adam Benford is any indication.

I'm sure localization/translation errors have a lot to do with it, but it's not like he's been a completely different person every time. I prefer to think of Leon as someone who's evolved and gotten darker and thornier because of his experiences. If you view all of Leon's appearances sequentially, you'll see this gradual change from an idealistic rookie who just want to help people to a young man coping with trauma through bravado and gallows humor to the the hardened, haunted man we see in RE6.
*ducks preemptively for New Bot's thrown shoe*

I'm sure the main reason for Leon's personality difference in the CG movies is due to feedback about Leon being like a emotionless cyborg in Degeneration.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with video on demand kind of stuff

You'll have to forgive my poor camera quality as my phone is sort of out dated.
Spoiler:
first picture is of "Ada" towards the very end of the movie doing a very strange grin when she is boasting about her accomplishment.
Now this next picture is from the trailer that we seen that showed Ada during her debriefing of Carla. This is what was shown.
Now as was stated before, during the end credits of the movie there are video footage that is shown. Notice the difference here where it has Project Ada. So we now know that the trailers were messed with and shouldn't be taken at face value. Edit: Also notice that there is an experiment number which means it may be true that the Ada we see in Damnation may not be Carla but someone else.
Finally this is the guy who I believe to be Simmons on the left.
It doesn't really prove anything but it just adds to the speculation that they showed a lot of fake Ada during the end credits scenes. I don't know if they are trying to say something here or not. Just thought I'd share.Last edited by Reston; 09-15-2012, 09:04 PM.

If the motion capture is based on the English dialogue then it's safe to say they, the powers that be, are content with the voice direction and dialogue that was used. Which brings me back to the point that she comes across rather sadistic and more vile then normal which lead me to the point that it may not be Ada but Carla. And wasn't there an interview where they talked about wanting to put more of a romance between Leon and Ada in the movie and they were flat out told no because of RE6? Hm.
They are perfectly fine because they are Japanese and very rarely ever have any comprehension of English. Having spoken to several members of the dev teams, it's a pretty common problem. If you told them what was said in English to them in their own language, they'd raise some doubts. This happened when I interviewed Yasuhisa Kawamura, and when I've spoken to Hideki Kamiya. Of course, it could still be Carla. Just saying, it does not excuse Leon's dialogue in particular and may explain Ada's personality shift if it is indeed her. The movie, Degeneration and BH6 are written by the same writer yet Leon's personality is drastically different. I will bet money on the only difference being the translator used. Some stay true to what was written for the character, others take dickhead liberties and try to inject their own pathetic brand of humor.
