RE: Outbreak for PC with MP?

Hey everyone, I though about the idea of playing Outbreak on the PC with some friends, over the internet, presumably with an emulator or something. After I post this I'm off to google to
see whats up, but I'm making this post to see if anyone has done it, is doing it, or if they've tried and it doesn't work.

I've never tried to emulate a game or know if you can multiplayer an emulated game, which I could figure out to set one up for myself, but I have no prior knowledge of how these work.
I don't know if and emulated version of Outbreak would even be the answer, but I don't think much else would be an option.

So, is it possible to have Outbreak set up with multiplayer on PC?

Not yet, no. As I understand it, the servers for Outbreak were a bit odd, and it's proven difficult for a fanmade one to actually work without re-coding the actual game. Or something. Sorry, I'm not great on the tech side of things.

The guy says he had file 2 working online, so I guest I'll install the emulator and go from there.

Except that post is from two years ago, when the Japanese File 2 servers were still online. You ain't gonna be able to connect since there isn't anything to connect to.
Also, there actually was one guy who was successful in making a fan server, but he ended up deleting his blogspot page and youtube channel, probably to stay under Capcom's radar. He was making some significant progress; you could actually connect to the lobby and play a scenario in multiplayer mode successfully. Who knows when he'll end up releasing it though.

And I doubt CAPCOM would care.

Maybe he just deleted his stuff because he abandoned the project.

I'm pretty sure he's still working on improving it, or at least that's what I've gleemed from reading another blog that was linked to his.
