Would it be possible to convert Resident Evil 1 to play in Resident Evil 2's engine? RE1 runs at a ridiculous speed in its original engine on modern PC's but RE2 can run just fine. If that's not possible, what would be a way to slow down RE1 to a normal speed to play it on PC?

[QUESTION] RE1 in RE2 engine?

I am no expert but from what I have heard the files used for the rooms are cross compatible between the re1, re2 and re3 with a little modification however I am not too sure about porting events e.g. introduction of yawn into other games although I would imagine that its not possible. I believe on the RPD dispatch episode on Resident Evil 1, Mr. Spencer mentioned CPU killer as a program to use to safely bog down the cpu. This would mean that the cpu would only have enough power to run the the game at a playable speed. Hope that helps. ;)
