Disabling Sigs?

Though, the more I think about it, if you disable signatures, I would probably go through with disabling image posting in general. If the argument is cleanliness, a bunch of LOLZ cat images posted back and forth (though humorous at times) is still clutter...And sometimes annoying.

No. Do not disable image posting. THAT is a bad idea, and it is MORE annoying when you can't post an image. While we are at it, why don't we just disable the damn forum and be done with it?

This thread is starting to get ridiculous. I understand the need for clearly read forums and blah blah blah. I actually agree with it. But my take:

If you're going to disable sigs, at least allow people to have text signatures. You want to get rid of images in the sigs, fine. But people should be allowed to at least have text. There is no harm in that. But some people may be against the idea of taking image sigs away. I see nothing wrong with a sig such as Alzaire's. His looks fine, and doesn't cause a problem at all.

Not a lot of people seem to use image sigs anyway, so I would just let people have the option to have it, and close this thread and just forget about this.

Also, I'd like to point out that there is an option in everyone's control panel that allows them to choose whether or not they wish to view signatures. If you don't want to view signatures then select that option. And there you go, no signatures if you like that "clean" look to the forum!

With that option there, there is zero reason to globally disable signatures for all of us. The only thing left is that spambots use the sigs. But let's not get rid of a function some of us like because of spambots that we'll probably never fully be rid of anyway.

Pretty much this. If we're removing sigs because of spam bots, that's pretty...well...pointless. People should be smart enough to not click on a spambot sig anyway, but if they aren't, they should simply do as Alzaire said and turn off sigs themselves.

But if you need to, they can be gone. Can't say I like the idea, but if those fucking spambots need to go, just chop it. We'll get used to it, I guess.

I'm indifferent. I use to love making and using my own sigs, but lately I've found that I could care less. However, I believe we should keep it, just so the option is there if someone wants to use it.

I disable sigs through my User CP anyway, so not having them is no loss to me.

Sigs like that of Alzaire are OK, cos they are smaller, don't expand the page and reflect what this forum is about; Mainly Biohazard / Survival Horror!
