Name: Resident Evil 4 High resolution EFF-TPL textures replacement pack 1.0
Author(s): Albert Marin Garau
Special Thanks to Voodoomann -who let me know about texmod tool and its possibilities and made this project a reality- and all the Resident Evil 4 PC Forums members for their support
Screenshot(s):
Spoiler:
Download Link: ---> *HERE IS THE PATCH!!* <---
Notes/Description:
Spoiler:
-------------------------------------
This will replace the low resolution textures of HUD, menus, fonts, effects (water, fire, blood ...) with high resolution textures.
It seems this patch requires a lot of memory (i'm not sure, i'm not an expert in this kind of things...), so there will be the possibility of installing only the HUD, HUD + menus, HUD + menus + effects (complete installation)
You'll have to run the game through the texmod tool in order to load the new textures. So, the installation is not permanent. If your computer can't handle this patch you can run the game as always (executing game.exe) and the default low-res textures will be loaded.
****IMPORTANT: This version only includes replacement textures for english text. So, if you are using a multilanguage version of the game, select english to enjoy all the hi-res textures.
If this patch works ok for everyone i will also create textures for spanish, french, german and italian in the future.*****
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
Patch contents:
a. Texmod tool
b. High resolution textures
c. definition files
d. 3 "game.exe" versions that will work ok with this patch (korean 1.0, korean 1.1, euro 1.1. all of them are NO-DVD cracked versions)
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
INSTALLATION STEPS:
1. Extract the contents of the patch wherever you want
2. Now it's time to decide a few things:
The patch includes standard (but enhanced) aureola effect (that red/blue/green shinny thing around the item or treasure when you kill an enemy) and noise effect ala Silent Hill.
In the "VARIATIONS" folder you will find alternative textures: no noise effect, hard noise effect, less visible aureola and invisible aureola. The only thing you have to do is to copy the textures you want and paste them inside the "TEXTURES" folder overwriting the default textures.
Hi-resolution texts and gamepad buttons:
If you want to enjoy hi-resolution texts and buttons, you'll have to configure your gamepad like is shown in the screenshots inside the "BUTTONS PACKS" folder. Decide which is the best configuration for you, then copy the textures from one of the folders (pcpad/pcpad(2)/ps2/ps3/xbox/xbox360) and paste them inside the "TEXTURES" folder overwriting the default textures (if you are going to use the "pcpad configuration" don't do anything because those are the default textures in this patch). i guess the keyboard configuration has nothing to do with it. so, if you use the keyboard just change the gamepad configuration as it's stated in the pcpad configuration.gif
REMEMBER: If you change the configuration of action/run/command ashley/status screen/draw knife/draw gun in a different way of those 5 configurations the game will load standard low resolution fonts
3. Place the 3 exe files you will find in the "GAME.EXE files" folder in your resident evil 4 folder
4. Place the "xfile", "xscr" and "ss" folders in your resident evil 4 folder (overwriting the existing folders and files). Remember: this will uninstall buttons replacement packs (if you installed them previously)
5. Run texmod.exe
6. Go to "Package Build"
7. Select a Definition file (they are inside the "TEXTURES" folder):
a. HUD+BUTTONS+TEXT.log (light installation)
b. HUD+BUTTONS+TEXT+MENUS.log (medium installation)
c. HUD+BUTTONS+TEXT+MENUS+EFFECTS.log (full installation)
8. Press "Build" and wait. then save the tpf file wherever you want
9. Go to "package mode"
10. "Target aplication": select one of the exe files included in the pack (if your game.exe is not a NO-DVD cracked version, this patch won't work, that's why i provided you 3 diferent game.exe versions. use the one you prefer)
11. load the tpl file you created previously (by clicking the folder icon)
12. select that tpl file in the list of the left and click "Run"
13. the program will need a few seconds to load all the textures and then the game will start
14. Repeat steps 9 to 13 everytime you want to play with hi-res eff/tpl textures
PD: You can edit every texture as you please before using texmod tool
this is "copy&paste" from the topic i created here:
if you have performance or other problems maybe you'll find the solution here, too
have a nice day

I wonder how you made the Mercs, and the "codec" screens look so high res. Any way you could say?
Also, do you have a total size for all your texture mods? I know the texture packs were pretty huge heh. Just wondering if I can help out by hosting them here.

easy, i took the gamecube textures and resized them a little bit more using photoshop plugin "alien skin blowup"
of course i redone a lot of textures. not everytexture is a gamecube texture upscaled... the texture patch 2.0 is 1,39GB and the tpl/eff patch is 130MB. so yes, they are big files...Last edited by albert; 03-28-2008, 09:32 AM.
