I know a few people that could think up this kind of stuff in their sleep, albeit, they are hardcore RE fanatics, so I guess that leaves them out... Well, then just think of what researchers dream about when they goto sleep: their experiments. It's plausible, just not very likely...

Just have a montage of scenes from the movies and then reveal the Tyrant 001 stir unconscious in "his" glass chamber before showing the mansion outbreak.
