Shinji Mikami was this weeks mystery guest along with a few other Japanese developers on the Insomniac Games Full Moon Show. While the interview didn't really offer up anything new in terms of information it was stated that Mikami was in the states touring US developers to get an idea of how they work and function.
Speaking on his visit to Insomniac he was surprised at how enthusiastic the developers are for their projects and other projects. He commented that you don't see that in Japan.

GameVideos now has video from the roundtable discussion from the "Snake vs Zombie" event, where Hideo Kojima, Shinji Mikami, and Suda 51 sat down and discussed anything that is on their minds.
He commented that when he was working on the Remake for Gamecube he was also involved in two other projects. So his team came to him and said he should leave the directors chair if he cannot devote his full time to the game. He realized they were right.
Another amusing note is that the idea for him directing the Remake was born in a bar, where he was constantly being asked about design decisions on the game by the then director of the project. It was only until the final meeting of the year on December 28th that during a drinking session the team proclaimed that Mikami was the only one who could do it, so he agreed and two months later they told him to get off the project. He states that this is why you shouldn't make important decisions while drinking.
