  • Trailer & Screenshots for Resident Evil 0 HD Emerged

The first trailer for Resident Evil 0 HD has been revealed. You can view the trailer here.

    Here are the screenshots
Before the mansion, before the destruction of Raccoon City, there was Resident Evil 0. Now remastered with improved visuals and sounds, as well as the all-new Wesker Mode, there's never been a better time to experience the origins of the Resident Evil story.

Looks great, but man that title call at the end was weeeeak. The original was way more sinister.

Guess they didn't bother re-rendering the fmv, the scars on the zombie face and Wesker brow and Edward jacket stitches still look low res like they've been upscaled and sharpened and have bluryness to hide the pixelation.
Billy tats could do with made more glossy in the gamecube version they only appeared as matt because of the washed out / whitetish smoke throughout the whole game.

The screenshots show a MUCH better looking background compared to REmake. Do you think Capcom had higher resolution background assets?

Blind guess is that they rendered the FMV based backgrounds at a higher resolution and downscaled them when they encoded the final files for in-game usage. Sort of like how a bunch of PS1 era games had their FMVs rendered in 640x480 30 FPS, to then be downscaled to some assy 320x224-esque junk at 15 FPS. And, I guess that anyone involved in RE0 probably went all nuts when it came to keeping shit on file, after having to redo a bunch of assets from the N64 version when they had to brush things up for the new target platform.

^ This sounds very plausible. It's a lot like what Squaresoft did with the backgrounds for Final Fantasy IX.

EDIT - I'd advise scrolling through the thread, I've posted further images as I've unearthed them. Final Fantasy IX is my favourite in the franchise. It’s a tremendously imaginative, funny, touching, effervescent journey through two colourful worlds. It’s unpredictable...

The difference is nothing short of staggering.
