  • New Umbrella Chronicles Famitsu Scans

Some new scans of Umbrella Chronicles have come online from the latest Famitsu Weekly. They show Jill and Carlos dodging what appears to be a out of control tractor trailer (did Capcom forget what game that was from?) as well as some new shots showing the RE0, RE1 Remake, and Outbreak scenario's.

Thanks to neo 2046 at NeoGAF who stole it from 2chan. I have no shame.

In other news, on IGN's latest podcast they were fielding questions from users and someone brought up the subject of a Resident Evil game for the PSP handheld. one of the editors at IGN revealed that he had heard rumblings that it was coming a few years ago but has since heard nothing. Apparently the game was going to be in the vein of the Outbreak series. This is of course unconfirmed, so I would take it with a grain of salt.

I stand by my original opinion. Umbrella Chronicles looks like nothing more than a cheap, half assed, low budget fuck around.

It's starting to look that way. :/ And you put it nicely...

Kinda rude, but plausible. I liked Wayne's post though (it spoke the truth).

I'm looking forward to it for the story only (well the update to the events after RE:CV anyway...) I'm not a fan of House of the Dead so the FPS on rails gameplay is kinda lame for me... I like to explore and find my way around, not be told where and when to go somewhere... I liked survivor because you could go exploring and just look around at the environment. If the game is on rails, exploring and taking your time is pretty much shot down...

I honustly don't think that Umbrella Chronicles is going to expand the story all that much beyond what we already know or have speculated. I think the game is more to tell the story to people who didn't play any games in the series before RE4, so they know what is happening in RE5 which, from what we know, will be closer to those games plot wise.

Really though, is there all that much we need to know? After CV, Umbrella fell when word got out of what they were doing. Wesker worked under a different organization (wasn't it hinted at being the US govenment) while plotting the revival of Umbrella. He also has Sherry and Steve within his grasp, thus, G and T-Veronica Virus samples.

                      Did I miss anything?

Well how does a international entity like that just disappear like that in the span of 2-6 years? I'm sure it employs well over a million people around the world and donates millions if not billions back to the community and is tied into many branches of research from medicinal to technological. Where did all that research go?

What happened to Spencer or the heads of Umbrella?

What happened to all the employees?

What if some ex-employees stole some samples of viral weaponry and threaten some government ala Dead Aim?

Well, I know little on the subject, but I believe that the many departments were bought up by rival companys, wasn't there a direct rival to Umbrella mentioned at one point?

That would also apply to the R&D side and any research that was being done.

And as for Spencer, i'm pretty sure some form of official documentation within the games or within a canon source (like a Wesker Report or something) mentioned that Spencer was dead.

Err, your information is dead wrong.

There is absolutely nothing documented on the before-mentioned subjects and I seriously doubt UC will even attempt to do so. I would be willing to bet Capcom is under the belief that causing the stock of a company to crash also causes the company and its assets to disppear.

Well I was only saying that I thought I read in an official canon source that Spencer was dead. The whole thing about other companys was simply a presumption based on what I believe happens in real life.
