Gamespot has a new writeup after getting some more hands on time with Umbrella Chronicles as well as a new trailer which has been released. The trailer focuses on Wesker and reveals that his playable section is from the mansion, after his "death". The game seems to feature a file system, which explains backstory as well as specific information on the creatures in the series. It also seems to show some of what happened to Ada after Resident Evil 2 and the relationship between Sergei and Wesker.

It also appears that those leaked shots showing the Tyrant we seen earlier (albeit now wearing a white robe with smoke coming off it) and Hunk are indeed the real deal. Capcom released them today in their press packets. How Hunk factors into the game is a mystery, though one might hope we learn what happened to him on Rockfort Island shortly before Code Veronica begins.

@ 1:21 in the trailer, you see Carlos scroll through his weapons, and scroll past a knife.
Should make for interesting knife runs, look at all those hunters and chimeras!

Certainly looks that way, would be interesting as a bonus if they had a mission with her escaping Raccoon City following RE2.

Why shouldn't she? She has the G-virus in her. I wouldn't be surprised if the blob that William Birkin became at the end of Resident Evil 2 is still alive after the explosion. This is Resident Evil, after all! Where 95% of the characters die only to come back a few minutes later.

I must say, after watching the latest trailer, my opinion of the game has changed greatly. I'm kind of glad I bought a Wii for SSBB (which has been delayed, fuck), but I guess this will keep me busy (although I doubt i'll actually buy the thing, it might have to be a download-buy-later for me).

Either that or they heavily retconned the story, which I wouldn't like so much.

Or it's just not canon. Only a few scenes will actually affect the story, I guess. Everything else is just so the game doesn't look weird, such as the scenes with Chris and Jill together. Basically, they aren't trying to contradict the older games. Which i'm glad for. I mean, come on, tentacle Nemesis in the R.P.D of all places? We only spend like 10 minutes in that building as a whole in RE3.

Anything that doesn't contradict the others = canon, that's the way I look at it. Lets just hope they do it properly and don't make huge fuck-ups like they have done before in failed attempts at clearing up the plot.

Umbrella Chronicles is beginning to show what it was supposed to do in the first place: fill in holes. I am glad they are showing what charaters like Wesker and ada did after their story ended.

I don't like the absence of secondary characters either. but If you look at the health bar in the vid you see that it's only one character's name. and it changes from one to the other. just something interesting I found.

Some predictions are that there are more than just 3 chapters for each period. We will probably see what happened to rebbecca as she made her way to meeting chris. Where Billy was killed. what carlos was doing before he met jill. we'll probably have a play through as barry or rebecca (maybe they're together?) the wesker after death is probably the second chapter of a Wesker senario that follows him through the mansion.

Most probably just the end of it and the loopholes surrounding her escape, since RE3 seems to deal with the brunt of the outbreak from the footage shown so far.
Im hoping for a RE2 bit though.

I have to say. After watching this, a lot of those skepticisms I posted about in the previous topic are being handled quite nicely. More variety of weapons, actually having to shake enemies off you. I went from moderately caring about this game to heavily anticipating it.

Still wish you didn't have bottomless magazines though...
