  • IGN Interviews Takeuchi, Biohazard Slot Machine Site Opens

IGN has hopped on the interview bandwagon and has just posted their video interview with Takeuchi. Some of the key higlights from the interview include:
    • The main mystery that the game will solve is where the Progenitor Virus came from and how it evolved.
    • You can destory environments with weapons.
    • There are more context sensitive attacks, such as the Uppercut which was shown in the video.
    • The stage shown was one of the brighter areas, but the area that leads up to that is a very dark and narrow area (the lantern area?).
    • The game will take you back and forth through light and dark areas with different kinds of gameplay between them.
    • The AI is much smarter, enemies work together with each other.
    • When you finish the game you wil know all about the past of the virus, and where its going in the future.
    • The games that had an influence on Resident Evil 5 are RE 2, 3, 4.
    • Takeuchi is big into Call of Duty 4

    Thanks to ElusionM!

In other news, the official site for the Biohazard Pachislot machine has opened. It contains a streaming video which introduces players to the gambling machine. It seems to sport CG cutscenes that have production values that rival even Umbrella Chronicles. It seems like the machine focuses on the Biohazard Remake for the Gamecube, albeit with new CG and different game-specifc scenarios. I recently got a press packet for this from Japan, which includes a dvd of the video on the site, so expect that to be posted in the not too distant future.
Thanks to Gene for the heads up!

I like the idea of the enemies actually working together rather than just attacking you all at the same time.

      Np.
      And yeah. It's very interesting.
Btw, Dot, you seemed to have left out on CVX. I really think, after all that mentioning of CVX from Takeuchi himself, that CVX is also one RE who RE5 is getting influence from.

Seems like CVX and 5 will be connected a lot.

Did he say CV in the interview? I was typing as I was listening so maybe I missed it.

          I only heard 4, 3, and 2, I didn't hear 1 or CVX

you could say it is also influenced by RE0 because of the Progenitor Virus...

It does seem an odd choice in games, since none of those deal with Progenator. Maybe they mean more in game enviroment and atmosphere?

All the stuff that was mentioned so far sounds great. But I just afraid the game will be extra difficult, it will be harder than RE4 and that game was not the walk in the park. Does anybody thought about that?

I expect they'll balance things out. The enemies might be higher in number and smarter but you'll likely have more chances to thin the herd down, such as the sniping at the enemies on the bridge, along with Chris being tougher than Leon and having more close range fighting ability.

Who knows. And besides lets just take the very beginning of the game, we know that there will be lots of angry enemys, a hammer guy with instant kill ability, but who said that you will have that shotgun and mashinegun that were used in demo from the begining? Only 9 mm Bereta. So get ready to die lots of times in the very beginning of the game. But you know that sounds good to me

                      This sounds familiar.

That slot machines, what, the 10th incarnation of RE1 (if you count RE:UC), 11th if you also count RE:GBC. It's wearing a bit thin now, isn't it? Looks great, and actually, if they took the time to make a CGI movie of RE1 like that i'd pay to see it, but come on, a slot machine?

I personaly think that Capcom should have stoped after RE Remake. In making RE 1 remakes.

I think he just tried to tell that the games that influenced RE5 is the RE SERIES itself. He just started from the last, 4, and continued as far as he bothered. It's easier to say 4, 3, 2 than 4, CV, 3, 2... He was kinda hurried when he said it.
