It is a "multi racial" contient but people are NOT mixed. There are thousands of tribes and different kind of people, but except for cities where they can find job opportunities, they do not mix up, especially in villages!

You think that all of the continent is like south africa? These are just stereotypes. White, arabas/hyspanic or whatever and black people all hanging around in an african village is just a nonsense, that's all.

This is not goddam brooklyn or the queens we are talking about, but an african village.

Man I hope I never looked like this back years ago, sucking on the teat of Capcom producer words like they were the words of god. No offense intended but you're just following what Jun has to say as producer to appease their creative image.... really, and simple fact here, Takeuchi was lying through his teeth. The way they're showing this game off now is testament to the fact they needed to show that it wasn't just one white guy killing black African people. If this was the plan to begin with, not that they intended a racist image - and I agree that they did likely plan a local female co-lead, however the first trailer set in the same village area would have shown a multi-cultural group of enemies.

Clearly Capcom has a presence online, they're aware of the fact the controversy existed in a public medium, and there is no doubt in my mind meetings were called to make sure the next time the game was shown publicly it did not call for peoples continuation of the same "Capcom Japan = racist" comments because no company wants to be branded as such. Plans for the game or not, the trailer was very much crafted to make sure that everyone didn't just look black as a response to any potential criticism. Simple as.

It did. It was just less noticable.

Rick, have you not considered that it IS a city? How many villages have a drawbridge built out of steel to accommodate motor vehicles? Perhaps the infection is an entire region, and the multi-race ethnicity is because they have been migrated to different area's to suit their specialties by whoever is controlling them?

That is what I was going to say Dot. Capcom has already officially stated that the first village area will be much larger than the village in 4. It probably is a larger town rather than just a village.

Looking at it that way, yeah, it's not a bad idea, you're probably right. Anyway, I honestly don't really care about the white and hispanic or whatever other people there are in this game. I just don't enjoy this new kind of "censorship".

The Japanese trailer was censored as well. Something tells me that the same thing that happened with BH4 will happen again with that game, the Japanese version will have its gore censored. I mean, no moving boobs and no decapitations during day time in BH4... that was weird.

I guess the last knife killing spree in Akihabara yesterday won't help it at all.

Well I think that we will start the game in a small vilage that have mostly black people, but than visit multirasial town, that have large port with docks, rail bridge, some laboratorys and so on...

Nice, I always kinda missed the urban setting of 2 & 3. Here's hoping for a bigger town.

No I went back and checked after reading the article at Kotaku, it didn't. Check for yourself. There is not a single person in any scene that isn't dark colored and definently none who look like any of the mix of new enemy characters in the Captivate trailers.

Edit to include Sly's comment so people know who I'm responding to.

I did check, several times, watching the trailer over and over for months.
One man in particular is quite noticable : the one with a moustache, who gets punched in the face by Chris near the end of the first trailer. This one sure isn't black. There is also a man in the yelling crowd who is absolutely white, but he's quite hard to spot. And a few others. Check again, mate, I'm not joking.
Though, it is true that the "Eminem-like" enemy, as Gametrailers described him (lol), is a new skin that we did not get to see in the previous trailer. The emphasis on him is so heavy, I think it influenced people in believing that things had considerably changed since the previous trailer.

Can you screen grab these, because between attacking enemies (and seeing shots of legs - black) I'm struggling to see them. I just rewatched the older video framed off my PS3 and while I believe I saw the mo guy you referred to, the white guy you've mentioned I've yet to pin point and I'm lacking to see any others.

Also regardless, I'm struggling to see them without really looking pain painstakingly here. The increased change in numbers and focus more on less black more multi-cultural looking enemies clearly indicates someone put their foot down about the image the older trailer was portraying publicly.

Indeed, there is no point in denying it. Nevertheless, there were already non-black enemies in the previous trailer.

I cannot post screenshots (for some reason, print screen acts strangely with Paint oO). The white guy can be seen from behind at 0:49, raising his arms. At 0:51 you can spot his face : he's behind a black guy wearing a blue T-shirt. He's hard to spot because the camera's moving too fast.
Moustache man can also be seen standing next to Axe man at 2:02 and 2:06. At 2:10, when the door opens, you can see another non-black guy (though I cannot say if he's white or rather North African or Indian, or whatever : let's call him Indian guy for now). Moustache man returns briefly at 2:12 standing next to the man throwing the grapple.
Indian guy returns at 2:16 in the dark room, to the left, and at 2:20, to the left again. Moustache man gets punched at 2:23, however he gets his revenge at 2:32 : he's the one giving the final blow.

I am using this trailer as a reference :

I went back through, and while I was watching the stream instead there instead, I did see the majority of what you were pointing out. Cheers.

First I would like to say congratulations to THIA cause the work been done here is awesome, mainly the download area.
I watched the video some days ago and indeed I liked it, less the Ganado with a crossbow, this weapon is pretty more connected with Europe and Asia so I expected for a new weapon that immediately resembles the continent of the scenario. Just like was the crossbow on the RE4.
