Many others would disagree, so I'd say that Rosetta is right on the money. Though even if he were truly a lousy actor, the fact that Konami kept the same actors is commendable.

Waugh's performances, aside from Zero, were poor but his voice was strongly associated with Wesker nonetheless.

Perhaps I should've added IMO to my post?

the worst thing is when they change a voice actor, the new one always tries to mimic the previous making them sound awful

          No, "personally" was just fine

Consistency, not quality, is what I've been getting with the topic on hand as I said, so try not to take it personally. Just a general point.

Oh man, this really sucks a big one!!! As silly as his voice was, its one of the endearing things I always have loved about Resident Evil; the silly and over-the-top B-movie style acting! I really hated the guy they had for Umbrella Chronicles.

I didn't like Richard voice when he was first introduced in RE CV but I sorta got use to it. I think they have changed Chris's voice in every game. In fact I thing the latest trailer has a new VA from the first one.

Such an uncomfortable situation, huh? I respect Douglas's work, but I love Richard's work, so.... I still prefer Richard.
The problem is not Douglas, the problem is damn Capcom!

(Hey, not to mention his real voice is totally different from Wesker's voice on REUC. He did not need to sound like Waugh. If he's the new Wesker now, do it by himself, just like Waugh did. =/)

Yes D.C.'s Website confirms that in Wesker will be voiced by Douglas in RE5.

However I agree with Red Queen, It's a problem of tradition, but the tradition doesn't matter to Capcom, they want money. Waugh is more expensive than Douglas, this is the business... but It's so sad.
I want Waugh back but sincerely I don't think he is returning, but he will be the "real" Wesker forever.

Oddly enough, this topic reminds me of how my girlfriend hated how they changed the voice actress in Sailor Moon after the first or second series ended. She couldn't get into it because the voice she associated with Serena/Bunny's character was different. Deja vu?

God, the characters are not real people. The voice is a thing that gives them some identification. It couldn't be changed.
We get used to some character's voice, and then we get lost when it's replaced.

It's really sad to say but, I don't think that Waugh is going to return. I think that even we make a revolution or something like that, they wouldn't listen. I totally understand Waugh's atitude, but he reacted de wrong way, making some fans be pissed with Capcom; and sometimes he talks with some despise about Douglas work... I think that this atitude reduces even more his/our chances to see him as Wesker again. I have to desagree with him when he says that DC is trying to sound like him. I heard the guy's voice on his website, it's very similar with Waugh's, they probably have chosen Douglas because of that. But I have to agree when people say that he made Wesker anoying and that his british accent is TERRIBLE. Waugh's made the accent in a very subtle way, especially in RE0. "Waugh's Wesker" is charming, misterious. He is the one who knows exactly who to play him.

Everybody is saying that Waugh recorded all the lines and then he was replaced. Did he got paid for this work? Because if they paid 2 actors to do the same character, in the end they spoiled twice the money o.O'.

Jesus fucking christ Capcom, how hard is it to just give us Richard fucking Waugh? Who we like?

Now I have to listen to a character completely devoid of emotion, and missing that snide "i'm a bastard" attitude. Lets not forget ZOMMMBAAAYZZ.

God. Why can't Capcom just keep the voices consistent? Can't be that fucking hard. They did it right with REmake. Why can't they do it again atleast just once?
