  • Resident Evil 5's Score, Bio 0 Wii marketing

The website Scoring Sessions has some pictures from the scoring session for Resident Evil 5. They reveal some information on the games soundtrack:

...while there are only about 15-minutes of orchestral underscore in the game (a lot of synth will flesh out the rest of the music), the action sequences were performed by an enormous 103-piece ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony.
At a seperate percussion session, there were traditional African instruments, which were played for the games title screen. See more at the Scoring Sessions website Thanks to Archelon!

Finally, its worth pointing out that Capcom is heavily advertising Biohazard 0 Wii Edition in Japan. While the game doesn't appear to have anything new, its still getting a big push from Capcom. Our good friend cvxfreak snapped a photo for us of a kiosk which has a rolling demo of the game along with some preorder slips.

I may have missed a news article or two but has anything new been announce for this edition? All I know is that the game will come with Wii-remote style play and even I have a hard time believing that this is all they added. Heck I may be happy if they just add 480P widescreen support anyway.

I never pre-ordered an import title before but the $39.99 price tag at playasia is looking pretty nice. Of course I'm boned since the new Wii update killed the freeloader. I think I may end up waiting until one of you guys gets a copy. Dot would you be willing to do a showcase of the new features or show off a video or two when/if you pick up a copy?

Yes, cvxfreak is securing me a copy and sending it to me via EMS, so I'll have it a few days after release. My guess is the 480p widescreen is just a stretch. I can't see Capcom rendering all those backgrounds again to fit 16:9.

Yeah and according to the tests you ran RE4 wasn't even true widescreen. The only benefit I can see from this version is the cutscenes might have less compression artifacts.

Yep, and the fact it runs in progressive, as the Wii has the option to run progressive 4:3.

Nintendo confirmed some days ago that BH0 can played with nunkiack/remote, classic controller Wii/remote and NGC controller... there are no motion control or any differences from the original NGC game. Only good thing that has this game compared with NGC game is that you don't need NGC memory card or another disk.

Every time I run a game in ED, it looks a bit softer/blurrier in comparison to running it at 480i. Of course, it wildly varies on the TV's own scaler but we're on the same boat... more or less. I don't think the XBR4 upscaler is much different from the XBR3's.

RE5 getting an actual score is a bit overdue. Even with modifications, it should remain faithful. If the PS2's audio chip carried Onimusha 1's live score extremely well, neither current gen console should have a problem outdoing that at all.

All this can be summed up that Capcom just wants to win easy money. Besides this game gives the impression that it is not done to the fans of RE, is made for Wii fans.

                        PS: Applause to Capcom USA.

I always try to find some sense in the existence of this port... can't find any, unless Capcom is willing to bring the whole series to the Wii, onde at a time, because of Umbrella Chronicles.... watching some fanboys throwing a fir about the Remake being ported to the Wii and not for the PS2 would definitely be fun....

But that's just some random thinking... I really don't think that will happen, with all the negativity this port has received, if they even planned it, that plan is now history.

Just off the top of my head, Zero was the best selling GC RE game in Japan and I believe it sold better than RE4 on the Wii too (in that region). More than UC as well, with a lower user base to boot. It would be reasonable to assume that it may be a test. If sales meet their targets, then perhaps an original proper RE game may appear on the Wii.

You're really overestimating the power of internet whining over a corporation. If a REmake port is planned, it'll see the light of day regardless of who and how many complain.

EDIT: Dot, do you have a Japanese Wii? I seem to recall that the latest firmware update rendered the boot disc useless.

Not really... Capcom actually stated that Resident Evil Ø Wii wasn't seeing the light of day in the ocident because of everything the fans said about it...
But still, I got your point, since Capcom seen to use the fan's whinning only to support their own decisions, instead of actually hearing then and making their decisions based on that...

Didn't know that about the numbers of REØ in Japan.... it could be a test o.o
