  • Kawata Resident Evil 5 Interview, Gametrailers Demo Video Walkthrough

Gametrailers has a Resident Evil 5 demo walk-through from Leipzig. The demo shown appears to be the same one that was at E3, but its still nice to see more footage of the game. Its a two parter and is available in both SD and HD resolutions.

    Thanks to Archelon!

Resident Evil 5's producer, Masachika Kawata sat down with Gamepro to do an interview at this years Leipzig Games Convention. Some of the details learned from the interview are:
    • The team is very busy working on Resident Evil 5 right now
    • Kawata originally thought 5 would be an action title, but it is (in his opinion) much more of a horror title
    • A scene in the game takes place in a dark environment (caves from the earlier trailer?) where your partner character has to hold a light while you defend them from enemies.
    • Capcom is working on a video montage of the various ways the partner characters can interact with one another
    • The level shown in the demo is from the first few levels of the game (reiterating this point from before)
    • There are several location changes in the game, but Kawata says the changes will be realistic concerning time (IE: No North Pole)
    • Takeuchi is working on another project at the same time as 5
    • The first half of the game pushes action, while the second half will be very scary

You can read the entire interview at Gamepro. Thanks to beasley23803!

This sounds a little more promising. I can live with the early part of the game, which is really all we've seen, be guns, guns and more guns if the scary gets ramped up slowly as the game goes on. That? That I like. Once I see some evidence beyond one guys opinioon I might even start looking foward to five.

    And there was much rejoicing.

I'd argue that a bit. The regenerators were in the later half of the game.

On the second video at 0:23 is that only a CPU move or the player can stab the enemies like that?.

Intresting that he actually mentions Takeuchi as 'Director' when on the offficial credits (end of trailer) he is producer....this game has three directors? LOL

I imagine it's Sheva's finishing move ala Chris' "Stomp."

Hope they can back up all that was said in the interview. I hope that the story is also good and we get some answers that were promised.

Action that is changed on horror in the 2nd part of the game, that sounds good to me, only if it is realy the 2nd part (10 hours of gameplay) and not alcouple of game last minutes.
