  • REVIL Interviews a Potential Fan

Seems like the people over at the Brazilian Resident Evil site REVIL have had a chance to pop a few questions in the direction of Roger C. Smith, the man who plays both Curtis Miller (Degeneration) and Chris Redfield (Resident Evil 5).

Roger has certainly answered their questions with a lot of words, which certainly makes it seem like it is not just some good ol' PR talk, but more along the lines of words from someone who feels like they've just accomplished something great and really feel like they've been part of something huge.

I certainly do recommend giving it a good read.
You can find the English version of the interview here.

Thanks, -Evil Shady-, for giving us the heads up

I'm getting a little over the voice/motion actor interviews, but this was a refreshing change because he doesn't come across as a self promoter and saying a bunch of stuff Capcom probably doesn't want. He's enthusiastic for the work done, and not just the stuff he's done, hints but doesn't spoil, and generally made for good read. Kudos for a decent interview REVIL.

Ahah, yeah. Seems like everyone's somewhat tossed themselves over the voice/motion actors lately.

Nice interview I did not know Roger C. Smith was playing as Curtis and Chris Capcom must have faith in him to cast both times.

*However, I’d say that calling Curtis a villain might be a little too much. He has his nice moments and could be considered just to be a little “misguided.” Curtis being a bad guy depends on how you look at it. There’s not too much I can say about him yet, but some might see him as brave or even foolish. Of course, some might have a hard time seeing him as anything other than a guy in need of a serious hair cut. It all depends on the beholder.*

I belive Curtis is not a villan like at first I thought he was but when I heard about how the film goes I feel sorry for the guy Spoiler:

I was under the impression Reuben Langdon was providing the voice of Chris in RE5 for some reason. I'm sure i read that in Karen Dyer's interview, it was mentioned he was doing most of her motion capture scenes with Reuben until he had to go and record his voiceover parts. I guess he just did the motion capture then.

All I can say is that it would appear Chris has been spending a considerable amount of time in the gym since the first game.
dude’s got arms like tree trunks, right? So, he’s been doing some protein shakes or something.
So, we'll be getting flashback scenes of Chris pumping iron?
Maybe a Rocky style training montage, with Chris drinking raw eggs and running up steps?

That voice actor is pretty funny...

I just recently watched the My Name is Earl episode from Season 4(?) where Earl has to help his father "beat up" a guy. The scene when he walks with his father up to the door came to mind (when Earl sings Eye of the Tiger)

Haha. It'd be nice if they did a montage, and used the song of the same name from "Team America."

But I doubt it will even be mentioned that Chris has 'roided up in his quest to gain some sort of leverage -vs- Wesker. Kind of like how they didn't explain Leon's injection of the "Super Soldier" serum during his government agent training days. Instead, he just showed up in Spain and started jumping from second-storey windows, pulling off contortionist moves to dodge 20 mobile lasers, and running up walls to perform backflips over aforementioned lasers. It'll just be left up to your own speculation on what really transpired for these characters.

*Speaking of which, I've always wondered how Claire transformed from a college student into a woman who can defy the laws of physics to fall faster than a gun she dropped beforehand, at a position already closer to the ground than her core mass...and how she outran hundreds of bullets being fired off in milli-seconds from helicopter mounted gatling guns...

Resident Evil gets away with it since it's a zombie game, with b-voice dialogue in certain games, Capcom can get away with anything these days now, funny but it's true in terms of art, action, and horror.
