Managed to DL it and play a bit before I went out this morning. Really enjoyed what I played. The weapons feel good and I love the new contextual follow-up attacks. Aiming felt a little sluggish so I'm going to have to play around with that in the settings, but I have no problems with how it controls otherwise.

How do you assign items to the D-Pad? It was the one thing I couldn't figure out how to do before I had to go out.

You don't have to use the action controls.

If you've played RE 4 then you won't have a problem using the A type of controls.

really? i must be forgeting something then, i was sure it was L1, or maybe that's just the GC version, or i set it to L1, ive always used L1 to aim in every game i play that lets me.

i tried both, they messed the controls up, also i noticed the aiming is with the wrong stick, i don't know, i can't remember, but it's messed up, not like the other RE's anyway, i hate all four control schemes.

Both R1 and R2 were for aiming, except for one control layout for RE4 IIRC. The thing I don't like is having to move with the analog stick, since I've used to the digital pad as it's more precise for me.

well i played most of my RE games on GC, and i always used the Left Trigger, and same on PS2, L1 was always default on my copys, and if it wasn't, id change it to L1, i hate useing R1 to aim.

The irony is that during the engine test phase, they were aiming to make this a 60fps game.

What I find odd is that the 360 run-through had no problem of frame-rate drops at all, only on this. Hopefully that'll be sorted in the final build.

Tearing and some hitches on 360, no tearing and more hitches on PS3. I'd expect both versions to have their kinks fixed for sure. These are older builds after all.

Pre September in-fact, the new controls schemes were added into the TGS preview after the E3 version, but both the same other than that. It will all be fixed easily. I've only encounterd tearing on the 360 version, at 1080p, what hitches are you talking about?

While the controls are certainly better than they were for the PS2 version of RE4, I think I still prefer playing with a 360 pad.
